Top Gear Features MINIs
Most of us around the MF offices are pretty big fans of Top Gear. We thought it was especially nice when BBC America decided to start sharing the goodness that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May dish out on a weekly basis. Eventhough they aren’t showing the current season, we still have ways to keep current, and with good reason, especially this week. Check out the video after the jump!
To end the current season, in typical Top Gear fashion, they have a series of challenges. This time, the Top Gear team actually has to compete against someone other than themselves. Sabine Schmitz, Tim Shrick and some guy in a suit take each other on in classic form.
One of the challenges pits 2 R56s against each other. Jezza in 1, Sabine in the other on an obstacle course and in a wheel-to-wheel race. It is pretty fantastic to watch. And no spoilers here, but fans of the show can probably imagine the outcome.
Perfect way to end the season – it was brilliant seeing the MINI race & slalom, plus them arguing over if it was a British or German car 😀
Isn’t Sabine going to host the TG Germany show?

It was an especially brilliant episode last night. Loved the Mini race…
Both had the JCW badge on the front. I think one was just kitted out with the JCW Aero kit
Both cars had the JCW tuning kit installed.
Sabine’s had the JCW bodykit, wheels and seats but had the engraved tuning kit exhaust. Plus they were very evenly matched on track.

Man, the BBC sure do jump on new TG episodes on YouTube QUICK, lol. It took a bit of searching to put together that whole episode.

That factory JCW (I assume because of the wheels) looks great but man do these cars need lowering! Looks like they’re on stilts.
Oh, that ending hurts. Like, ouch man…
My kingdom for a sequential shifting MINI!!!!! Not sure why some felt it was a let down? It was a brilliant segment. I wonder who the ringer was in the Dakar car?

If you folks would like to see complete episodes check at the forum at car2max.com. The episode from Sunday normally appears around Tuesday or Wednesday. Its how I get my Top Gear fix and I love having the entire episode uncut!
Watching them argue over the German/British car thing is like the “discussions” I have whenever I want to take the MINI to a car show. The Poms have a sook, the Germans have a sook. So I just say stuff them and take the MINI to German and British days.
After all, aren’t these days supposed to fun and about enjoying your car!
