In order to celebrate the 2008 Olympics, something was needed that not only conveyed the essence of MINI, but which was distinctly Chinese, moreover, distinctly Beijing. Of course, in order to catch the mood properly it should incorporate a little athleticism too. Hence, the MINI Clubman “The Other Rickshaw” was born. Although it may be difficult for your North American and European readers to understand, it is something everyone here can immediately identify with. Even though bicycle rickshaws are slowly disappearing from the roads, they still hold a dear place in everyone’s heart. Anyone who sees the Rickshaw smiles, which is what MINI is all about. They also take pictures and beg for rides, because just like all MINIs this one is fantastic fun to drive and packs big grins into a small package.
…Plus it is easy to park.

Pure greatness. I’d love to have a ride in one.
Depending on the load that thing could potentially have the famous BMW 50-50 weight distribution.
Given that MINI can’t keep up with demand now, I’m not thrilled with marketing attempts to drive up the demand in China. I will give them props for a cool idea, though.
That’s awesome! I wonder how much it weighs.
That is great! Being a part of such unique group with a never ending imagination for design!
China will be the new superpower of the 21st century in the same way the United States was in the 20th Century and the British Empire in the 19th century.
By the way, the fine folks over at http://www.jalopnik.com are not too thrilled with this latest MINI marketing campaign:

The first rear wheel drive MINI! Neat design 🙂
I knew something was going on in China..
now I see their work, great idea guys.
Zero emissions? I guess it depends on what the driver had for lunch!
SWEEEET!!! Finally, a MINI even I can afford. Now if I can just get my wife to agree. Ridin’ through Tienamin square in style. Eat your heart out Jackie Chan. Ah, who am I kidding. I’ll probably end up pulling my wife around in it.
What happened to the front of the Clubman? My guess is it is in the Copy factory getting blueprinted to start making fake MINIs along with the fake Nike and Rolex brands.
Rickshaw walla have finest kind chickens in town! Have dinner with little miss, then plenty room in back of MINIrick for later fun! Only hundred fifty yuan and a cigarette! It’s a good business for you, joe!
And the 0-60 time would be??? 😉
No torque steer!
And the BEST feature is… plenty of leg room for the rear seat passengers!
does it have a suicide door?
