I saw something a few weeks ago about this, but I never through that it would come to this. I’m shocked that the free-roaming herds of wild Anthracite have been “harvested” to the levels where manufacturers had to go without. Save the Anthracites!

PS: I do have the double sunroof, which is probably the main reason I was able to give up a convertible after 11 years.

The anthracite headliner makes the interior look more expensive, and the light gray is what looks cheap (like most econoboxes). I also picked it because it hides the large “gaps” at the club-door pillar and basically makes all the various gaps and joints “disappear”. Plus it will hide years of wear and tear, and all you need is a black marker to touchup any light-colored stains.

I’m with you C4. This place needs a little needling now and then to stay interesting. It’s getting boooooring with the same post over and over i.e. 15 posts on the crossman concept with no new infor and the same pix. Yawn.

As an aside – I agree, DavidB that the quality of the headliner is not as good as it used to be. That said, as with most peripheral things, one does get used to it and soon doesn’t notice it anymore.

I’m fine with either headliner – light or dark. It just happens that the JCWs come with it so I’m fine with that ’cause I don’t have to pay extra for it

Have to say as much as I love my R56 it’s a shame the headliner isn’t the same quality it was in the R50/R53.

The anthracite headliner has to be one of the most overrated options in the MINI.

It makes the interior look cheap and low rent. Not too mention dark and claustrophobic.

But hey, that's me. Why would anyone pay MINI money for the same exact standard headliner but dyed in dark color? (And probably it costs them an extra $1-$2 per headliner to do).

Nice profit built into it.

Picked up my Clubman today and no anthracite headliner. I’m very disappointed that Mini and my dealer were not more pro-active in addressing this situation. If nothing else, I should have gotten an official head’s up as soon as it was determined that orders would be filled without an ordered option. I was offered nothing to ease the pain — told I could either get $250 reduced from the price or I could have the headliner replaced when parts became available. Decided to take the $250, but I’m very unhappy with the customer service. Mini seems to be getting a bit too big for its boots!

I am not a fan either to much all the same color brings back the days of the 80′s to me. I like the lighter and most high end cars use a lighter roof anyways.
