Woo-Hoo!!!!!
Matt
ReplyThanks to an intrepid MINI enthusiast we have our first sneak peak at the MINI E as it’s being unloaded at LAX in anticipation for the LA Autoshow.
The MINI E was flown in from Munich via Lufthansa Air Freight and should be seen next at the MINI stand in LA. From there we should see the car in Detroit early next year and then at Geneva in March.
For more on the MINI E click over to the MotoringFile MINI E section.
Minifan for the photos.
Very tempted to make the 1k drive south to go see the car in person.
ReplyInteresting that it has a UK number plate, and the “E” at the start of the plate is for Essex of all places!
ReplyVery cool!! thumbs up Now, if only MINI would pick a few leasees from here in VA….
Reply“flown in from Munich via Lufthansa Air Freight” – not very in keeping with reducing costs!
ReplyThe third picture you can see the picture of the guy that sent it.. He wont have a job for long.. I like the idea, cant wait till they bring the COOPER D over..
ReplyCooper D, Cooper Clubman D is all most of us want here in the USA area!!!
ReplyI still would love to see the Mini D in the States, figure though by the time we see it there will already be more than a few other small diesels available.
Think Mini has already stumbled on this car market here and is likely to miss the biggest potential by being late to the game.
ReplyIan, How else do they get a car they just finished in Munich to the show in LA? Not by boat as it would take forever!!
Looking forward to seeing this car around NYC! MINI I am up for a lease…. if the 335d does not work out.
ReplyI wonder if that little plug to the left of the front license plate if for charging. Anyone know?
I also wonder what all they could do with the grill area since cooling certainly won’t require all that real estate. It’ll be fun to see what people can think up for mods if the E’s pass into general production.
Love the 001, too!
ReplyOh thats cool. Soooo where is the JCW review we are waiting for.
ReplyThe LA Times reported that the lease will be $850/month, which would put it out of reach for most people. The customers will probably be businesses and wealthy individuals.

ReplyWe’ve been told by our sources that the final pricing isn’t $850 and won’t be released until the eve of the debut at the show.

It will go live on the site tomorrow morning.

The plug left of the front license plate is the tow hook hole…same as on other MINIs. The press photos show the charging plug is under what is the fuel cap on regular MINIs.
Replyzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…….OH, er, KICK ASS!
BTW, 007 wouldn’t be caught dead in this thing.
Is there the possibility of electrocution if it rains? I figure that’s why it’s only available in California (cue music…..)
