MINI vs Tahoe – A Texas Showdown

Is this what happens when a MINI and a Tahoe meet? Apparently in this case. Now we’re not here to pretend the laws of physics would always favor the smaller car. But in this case they clearly did and the result is nothing short of hilarious. Check it out at the link below.

    Love it!

I have seen more than a few giant SUVs with their wheels in the air over the years.

So funny… Looks like all the mini need is a new bonnet and bumper.. That picture is priceless

    That’s crazy.

This would be a perfect marketing idea!

Oh the old MINI = frontal accident, SUV = side impact accident trick. Much better (as if you can say that in an accident) that the MINI t-boned the SUV than the other way around. Although, let us not forget the MINI’s overall excellent crash test ratings (and real-world performance)!

Should we note that mass (weight) does often “help” in a crash, and this MINI is wearing S-lites???

Shows you how top heavy SUVs really are. Glad no one was hurt but I’m pissed at the lady for not paying attention. All it takes is one little act of carelessness and you can alter the lives of people forever. I wish they would hand out harsher penalties to make people think twice, thrice when driving.

I had a stupid lady follow me in her BMW (7 series) for miles chatting away on her phone. She almost rammed into me. I tried three times to alter my route to get away from her but because she wasn’t using her turn signals, I couldn’t elude her. I finally pulled over when there was room.

That demonstrates the biggest safety issue of SUVs – they tend to be easy to rollover.

    More stories about amazing Mini:

Wifey was driving Honey across Beacon Street near Coolidge Corner here in Boston. She had a green and followed the car in front of her through the intersection. Now Beacon has two lanes of traffic both directions, so when a box truck is stopped in the near lane, you can’t see that a mazda minivan is in the far lane and is not going to stop at the light. (Later got a ticket for it.) Honey was struck in the drivers corner and it pushed her about 5-6 feet with some spin. No airbags went off in either car.

Wifey called me up, hysterical over being in an accident. I made it there under my own power to see that the mini’s hood and driver headlight were busted up something fierce, but that Wifey was ok and it appeared that the other driver was as well.

The Mazda minivan, on the other hand, was toast. Crushed front end, oil & coolant everywhere… total loss. I got AAA to tow us to a dealer where they proclaimed that all the damage was cosmetic and proceeded to drive it across town to their body shop.

Moral of the story. Honey may not be bullet-proof, but she can play the part of a tank when she wants to. Also: Count your blessings and give thanks.

hmmm, from the look on that Mini’s face I’d say he wants a little more of that Tahoe. Grrrr.

Reminds me of a post I saw on a little known site called bridger.us back in 2002, that compared the crash tests of the MINI and the Ford F-150… :-)

Eric, That is to funny. Do you think if the MINI has lighter wheels it would’ve cartwheeled over the Tahoe?
  • Bob Hayhurst

I note that the windshield on the MINI is not cracked. This is opposite to my three direct replacements and empirical evidence from my checkbook that the windshield on a Mini is fragile; go figure… I do like the fact that the MINI kicked Tahoe butt!

  • joe

lmao!! thats great. sux for the drivers but im sorry, this made my night. round 2 is going to be that MINI crossover concept against an H1 lol.

  • STIGG

I guess since the MINI was in an accident it’s OK to use an improper tow vehicle? Ah yes, Bridger.US, man that was a long time ago. Loved the comment about the windscreen… I myself have replaced 4.
