No dark silver for the S version?
ReplyWe know there’s always some confusion as to what colors MINI is offering (or not) on each model. So we thought we’d help where we could and give you the full list of exterior colors that will be offered in the US market for the new R57 convertible. This is hot off the presses and somewhat preliminary but we don’t expect any changes. The UK and European markets should be similar if not the same.
Someday MINI will figure out how to make a White white. I at least hope that they offer such a color in Japan.
ReplyAnd only one blue! I like the new blue, but its no match of my Hyper Blue!
ReplyTo me the best blue ever offered by MINI was the late Indy Blue Metallic (2002-2004). They really did get it right. The other blues that came after it are nice but not up to the level of IB.
ReplyOh and no “Solid” black? Another rehash of Cosmic Black/Astro Black.
I must say that Astro Black is very nice. Never taught I would like it so much.
ReplyThey do know how to do white. They just only know how to put it on the roof. :P
I loved Indy Blue, too.
ReplySomehow the last part with the MCS colors got truncated in the post and didn’t display. It’s all there now and DS is on the MCS (and all is right with the world).
ReplyOK so at the MINI.COM site if you look at the model range and chose the cabrio S or the cabrio, then at the botton select body and soft top. There is a color wheel with all the colors. I do see the dark silver for the S but not the Coop. On the Coop there is the nightfire red but not that on the S. Now since this is the international site maybe the counrty specifics are not there. Take this for what its worth.
ReplySo what is pnt cloth after sparkling silver
Could that be “metallic paint cloth”? Some sort of glitter in the canvas of the soft-top?
ReplyThere are a lot of confusing combinations for the 09s… Like one colour available on the S but not Cooper or convertible only or not with this upholstery or roof colour…
I first noticed that when trying to build a MINI in Midnight Black with a body coloured roof. It’s only available with a white roof! What if someone wants a black on black MINI?
ReplyJohnny: Oxygen Blue is still available (in Canada at least), on the hatch model though, not the convertible.
Replywhat is with their aversion to offering hot chocolate on any car I want to buy?! 1st only on the Clubman, now only on the base vehicle. ugh.
ReplyWill the Sidewalk package be available in the Cooper S convertible?
ReplyMini has some very confused notion of constructed exclusivity via color restriction. As far as I can tell, they are all arbitrary and do nothing other than dissappoint those that want to order “restricted” combinations….
Someone needs a kick in the head! Oh, sorry, that’s not PC. Someone needs a stern talking to!
Matt
ReplyI’ve been “forced” into two astro blacks for lack of better choices. Looking forward to seeing midnight black.
Electric blue x2!

I just checked miniusa.com and the configurator allowed me to pick the body color top on Midnight Black for both the Cooper and Cooper S hardtops. Maybe there was a glitch in the matrix?
I for one am glad that MINI doesn’t offer Jet Black anymore. Very few people have the discipline to maintain Jet Black properly. Then it looks absolutely terrible in short order.
ReplyCraig: Maybe it’s a Canada thing only. My coworker and I were looking at the product planning matrix – a chart that shows what colours are available on the models. MINI Canada’s configurator isn’t updated yet to show Midnight Black since we don’t have any Midnight Blacks in the showroom yet, so I can’t build it and check – yet!
ReplyI agree that Indi Blue was the best metallic blue ever (and it was the first?)
But why no bright metallic red? Solar Red was, IMHO, a great colour, but a limited production run only!
ReplyI went to order the new MCS Cabrio today. I can absolutely confirm that there is no sidewalk package, Jennifer.
ReplyThe more I consider it, the more I feel that the 2009 MINI colour range is their weakest selection yet – showing a distinct lack of excitement or choice – am I alone?
Reply@C4: agreed entirely. my 2004 just-a-cooper is indi blue, and i have to say it’s the most perfect shade of blue ever offered by any car company on any car. if i ever get any mini again after my current one (and i love my current mini, so i’d be interested in another mini a few years down the road), i’d be willing to pay a $1000 premium for indi blue paint, easily.
