Clubman to Get Matching C-Pillar Option

After a year of hearing customers ask for it, MINI is finally allowing for matching C-pillars on the Clubman. However it’s with one big caveat – you can only get matching C-pillars if you order Pure Silver or Midnight Black.

On the Midnight Black R55 the black C-pillars are just that, black. That means that they won’t technically match the metallic Midnight Black of the body and will be based on the old Jet Black non-metallic last offered in 2005. However on the Pure Silver Clubman you will get the same Pure Silver on the C-pillars making it the only truly mono-chromatic Clubman offered.

These new combinations can be had on all variants of the R55 Clubman including the Cooper, Cooper S and John Cooper Works models. The website will be updated shortly and the dealer ordering guides have these new rules as well.

Thats why Gabe said the website would be updated shortly with this information Hardingsan ;)

Think this is a ok move should make a few people happy to have the option.

@Pete: Here’s a link to the painted C-pillars that Pete mentioned.

    This is awesome!……what’s a C pillar?

  • Dede

Now if only they’d listen to customers and redesign the awful craptastic dash and center stack…

  • lavardera

hmmm – based on the picture that gabe linked I think the c-pillar should be black when the rear corners are body color.

  • veggivet

So the black on black won’t match up when seen close up? That defeats the purpose of having a monochromatic option, doesn’t it?

  • GregW

Greg – What’s a “c” pillar? Well, the front windscreen has two A pillars, the B pillar is in the centre between door and rear quarter window, and the C pillar is usually at the rear. Now that the Crossover is on the production schedule you can understand why MINI did not put more development into a left hand side clubdoor. But a false pillar for cosmetic reasons?

  • Aurel

this sounds like the laziest packaging option from MINI ever. but in reality the Clubman looks really bad with body colored c-pillars. that back area slims down a lot visually with contrasting ones.

I’m not crazy about the silver C pillars anyway let alone the top. If they got the black-matching situation straightened out, then a car wearing such an outfit would look plain mad! It’s the look I was going for on the Clubby S I’ve got on order (BRG body – black pillars – BRG roof).
