<p>Question? If my clutch where to fail, would this be what I would be looking for when the dealer pulls it out? And if so, is there a way to actually tell if that was the one pulled from my car and not just a switch to get me to pay for it????</p>
<p>It might look like that, it might not. There are quite a few pieces to the clutch that could cause it to ‘go out’. The example above only shows what hot spots look like.</p>
<p>Are the “hot spots” what MINI looks for to see if you have “abused” your car and therefore try to weasel out a paying for a premature failure under warranty?</p>
<p>my MY05 JCW MCS clutch pressure plate (the discoloured piece of metal shown in your photo) apparently broke into 3 pieces. I was not allowed to take photographs, it was covered under warranty !</p>
<p>Another great show. It drives me up the wall though when I hear what is covered under the U.S. Service Plan warranty. My front brake pads needed replacement on my 2009Mar R57 at 25,000km which works out to 15,500 miles. Fought this with the dealership and MINI Canada but this is not a warranty issue to them. So for MINI Canada, no brakes, rotars, fluid, filters, blades….. Count yourself lucky America.</p>
