Speccing MF02 – We Need Your Help

_DSC1314

A few months ago we introduced the concept of MotoringFile Spec. The idea was simple. Over the years, we’ve fielded hundreds of spec-related questions from readers. What packages should they choose? What accessories are must-haves? We’ve seen them all. So what if we spec’d our own cars with a few unique touches? With this idea and the help of MINI Chicago the idea become real.

Our first car, MF01, was ordered as loaded as they come and topped $45,000. Yet, it sold rather quickly to a long time reader and MINI owner who was looking for something unique and (as you guessed it) fully decked out. However, what about those of us looking for a little more price-conscious MINI with fewer options? That’s the idea behind MF02, and that’s where we want your help.

We want your ideas for colors, options and packages for MF02. We’re leaning towards a Cooper S hatch and are aiming for no higher than the lower $30s, but you tell us what you think. Once we get your input, we’ll order the car through MINI of Chicago and show it off on MotoringFile.

I say go for something with a few sporty additions while keeping it otherwise simple. A few little luxuries but nothing crazy. No MINI Connected or Nav. No moonroof (lower center of gravity, less weight).

It needs to have either the JCW dash or the Mini Yours dash. Those leather toppers should be, if not standard, MUCH more popular options. And they should come in as wide a variety of shades as the existing color lines.

I second the no nag and eliminate that little pain, the center armrest. Recaros for sure.

No options and nothing but, aftermarket performance to make that bad boy faster.

I always loved the WC50 model so do a budget version -

Racing green, JCW interior+exterior packages, JCW rear spoiler, JCW strut brace and driving lights and black headlight housings, rooster red interior. I think if you could negotiate Black challenge wheels that would make it unique. $29,967

(I personally would add Tech package and premium package 2 for $32,717)

  • glangford

Simple is better. Less options. For 45K, I’d buy something other than a Mini.

  • that.guy

I’m sorry but I cannot cundone the purchace of anew Mini.

    • that.guy

      Why not?

      • that.guy

because (a) too expensive and (b) not race car

        • that.guy

          fair enough
