Thanks to someone forgetting how to follow official embargo instructions, two images of the 2014 F56 MINI slipped into cyberspace earlier today. We’ll save you from venturing out looking for them and simply post them here. However you’ll still have to wait a few more hours for all the photos and the full official release to drop early Monday. See one more photo after the break.

nope.

Is it a new Geely?

Nope. That’s Lifan.

Looks great!!!

Love it!!

Probably the ugliest Mini ever. Maybe the JCW aero kit will save the day… I really hope so,

I’m quite fine with many aspects of this car, but the long nose and the death of unique dash setup like the lack of center speedo, window switch on doors, pushed away tach, not really good use of center circle component layout other than the ring, etc etc.

I understand that the long nose was unavoidable due to ped. safety regulations, but still feel they could have done a better job on the overall interior execution.

I got 2011 R56 which basically gen 2.2. I guess I’ll wait for the gen 3.2 in 3-4 years… Or my hope is the JCW will bring more “driver’s car” approach to the interior setup (and grill/brake duct area) but I’m sure I’m just dreaming…

It’s a YES from me! Hugely desireable and a great retro colour too.

I still cant get over how terrible the front fascia looks. Maybe in Cooper form it will be better.

[sigh]

The rear is definitely growing on me.. but that front end! Soooo busy! Is the Cooper S scoop still non-functional (apart from being melty)?
In that colour with bonnet stripes – even busier!

They go on about heritage but the front of that car looks more Geely than Issigionis..

I think even the Cooper looks worse than the R56… http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mini/mini/63889/new-mini-cooper-2014-revealed-pictures/page/3/0

Interior looks very busy too. Oh well! Pinning hopes on the next gen MX-5 now…

everything seems not right….or it’s just plain ugly :(

So, what happened to, “trust us, it looks better in person, guys…”? Yeah, that’s either an honesty fail, or one too many PR brunches talking. It looks exactly the same as the spy shots (which is to say, horrible).

If this site weren’t free, I’d ask for my money back. 😉 (/sarcasm)

Based on the spy shots and what not, I did not expect to like it. When I first saw the rear end, I hated it. Having spent time with the photos, now I like it more and more every time I see it, rear end included. I’m excited to see it in person. There are definitely color combos and detail choices that will look better than others, but that was always true. Overall I’ve really come to appreciate the design, and that surprises me, given what we’d seen up to now. What really did it for me was seeing all four generations together. I think the F56 (and others here have said the same) looks the most like the classic Mini of any of the BMW-bred models.
I’m also fascinated by this jet-setting, BMW-funded lifestyle you think we live. Sounds so much better than the way things actually work around here.

So when will a configurator be available? US or UK.
