MotoringFile Live From NAIAS 2014 (Gallery)

20140113-121634.jpg

Today is the day that MINI takes the wraps off of the MINI JCW concept – a car that gives us a sneak peak a the 2015 JCW. Additionally we’ll be getting a better look at the new F56 with more variants on display than we’ve seen before.

Throughout the day we’ll be bringing you updates from the floor and plenty of photos. Be sure to follow the site and check out BF on Twitter and Instagram.

Check out the gallery (as it’s updated) throughout the day.

IMO ditch all those red accents except for the roof/mirrors. Don’t like the tail lights. Look forward to seeing the final version someday in person.

    • MisterRyan

I agree. MINI is getting a little overboard with the accenting on the JCW’s and JCW GP just to differentiate it from the rest of the line.

    • Jason

Yeah those red accents are ridiculous. Leave the roof and mirrors red, ditch the rest.

Totally agree and tail lights without amber turn signals should be criminal!!! Many American models integrate the red turn signal so carefully into the red tail light stack that you can’t tell if they are signaling or breaking.

I agree too. I’ve just ordered a well specced Cooper S (F56) that would rival the JCW in terms of price. Whilst I’d love the JCW performance, I could not live with those looks.

  • oldsbear

They must have gotten a deal on red stickers; what a mess!

  • RakSiam

The headlights look enormous on the red Cooper

  • Bor

please post some interior shots, including the rear seats thanks!

  • JCW_Fan

I just notice the new MINI is 5×120 pattern on their wheels. That opens up a lot of options for aftermarket wheels.

MF Admin, do you mind posting a picture of just the front brakes? I just want to see if they are the current JCW 4 pot or upgraded version. Thanks!

  • planeguy

I am tryin….I really am tryin……Such great content on the inside but with a body like that?….Please just tell me it looks better in person

  • JimzMinimal

WTF…! Now I can sleep better with my 2009 JCW.

    • MJCW

Me too… this car looks like it came out of Pimp my Ride.

  • RakSiam

There’s an interior shot on the instagram feed. The lights around the center dash pod thing look ridiculous.

  • Gene Leeds

Thank god it’s still a concept. That means there’s still hope!

  • veggivet

I’m seeing red…and way too much of it!

  • JonPD

No matter how I try I just can’t get over the taillights, they are so over scaled for the size fo the car its just not pleasing to my eye. The red ring around the gas cap made me throw up in my mouth, what a increadibly tacky and cheap look that has. Looks almost from the rear shot that rear underpannel diffusers are faux pieces of cheap shinny plastic. Would like to say the design looks like the odd looking love child between a R56 and a Lilifan 320 (aka Mini clone). I remember all to well when the cheap looking Lilifan came across Motoringfile were it was blasted for its epic overhand. Enter now the F56….

    • JonPD

      Lifan 320 that is ;)

  • Kev50027

What I like about the JCW concept:

    1. The wheels.
  • nervous

I hope this thing comes with so much power & performance that nobody will ever actually be able to see it – just a blur. When I squint my eyes & imagine this blur, it looks much better.

  • Kurtster

Didn’t any of you guys ever own Hot Wheels? If you’re that put off by decals have your dealer remove them. I wish I could have ordered mine with flames on the hood and side exhaust pipes. I guess in a world full of “blacking out” and “murdering” one’s car, any piece of contrasting color or texture is going to offend. To each his own. Haters gonna hate.

    • http://www.nathanielsalzman.com/ Nathaniel Salzman

      Well said.

  • http://robertdenton.org/ Robert

I hope Yellow is back?! I drive an ’04 Liquid Yellow, it wasn’t the most popular color and I love it!

  • rlb

From your article: “Additionally we’ll be getting a better look at the new F56 with more variants on display than we’ve seen before.” Have you seen more info for the regular F56 or is it just the JCW that is the “more variant(s)?”

    • http://bridger.us/ Gabriel Bridger

Just the JCW. There will be more at the press launch in two weeks. We’ll bring coverage of that in its entirety.

      • rlb

Thanks Gabe, but I’ve got to say, oh for Pete’s sake MINI. Drip, drip, drip. First the countdown to November, then the wait for January, and then the Detroit Auto Show after which we were expecting pricing and details, now 2 more weeks…… granted 2 more weeks is technically after the auto show. Sighhh…. With the speed of the internet, Amazon Prime, etc, immediate gratification has become way too common. I suppose it’s good to have to endure delayed gratification once in awhile.
