<p>It’s a Concept….they usually exaggerate a lot of those features.</p>

<p>The photos make the Clubman Concept noticeably longer than the current Clubman. Even so, to my eye this looks much more attractive than the 4-door Hardtop (which looks like something from MINI’s counterfeit ad from years ago).</p>

<p>Because they’re two different sizes. The new Clubman is a bigger car than the new 4-door Hardtop. They will also likely be priced accordingly.</p>
<p>What is the difference in size? Guessing 4-inches (ish)? Seems like niche-filling rather than a move toward a more minimal product line (as suggested by the recent MINI boardroom story about a revised strategy).</p>

<p>Based on previous reports, the F54 will be about 4″ ‘longer’ than the Countryman making it about 22 inches longer than the outgoing R56 & 18″ longer than the incoming F56.</p>
<p>It has also been noted that the 4 door F55 will be only be about 2″ longer than the F56 which equates to about 16″ shorter than the F54 Clubman.</p>
<p>The way I see it and based on dimensional specs:</p>
<p>Mini 4-door is sized to “compete” with VW Polo, Mazda 2, Honda Element, Prius C, etc. i.e. the Mini 4-dr is a luxury B-segment car.</p>
<p>Mini Clubman is sized to “compete” with VW Golf, Mazda 3, Ford Focus 5-dr, etc. Thus, a C-segment sized car. Compared directly with the VW MK7 Golf. the Clubman is 1″ shorter in length than Golf, 2 inches wider than Golf, and they are the same height at 57″.</p>
<p>I really hope they put a diesel in this for North America cause I want it bad, and in the concepts color scheme!</p>

<p>I wanted to hate it, since they put in 4 regular doors and made it a conventional-looking car… but, it’s nice. I think it will do well with the family crowd with small kids as an alternative to an amorphous minivan or giant SUV.</p>
<p>There is so much about this car that the F56 should have been….The styling is just so much cleaner on this. I dont care much for the tail lights though. But if this styling holds to production then I will be a buyer….. just get it on the lots already!
I have to say again that this car does not look like a F56 variant. I just can’t picture this car being made on the same production line as the F56.</p>
<p>These photographs show just how much longer and wider F54 is compared to F55. In particular the F54’s wheelbase and rear passenger doors are appreciably longer than those on the F55. No wonder BMW says that F54 will be a genuine alternative to the Golf Estate (Wagon).</p>
<p>Interestingly, Anders Warming said on Monday at the opening of the Geneva Show, that the seven seater MINI MPV has been put on ice, and that no MINI will be larger than the new Clubman and Countryman for the foreseeable future.</p>
<p>Most definitely not a genuine atlernative to the golf estate, unless you’re looking for a car a full foot shorter. It’s a genuine alternative to the Golf 5-dr hatch. Dimensions are almost identical. See my post above.</p>
<p>Statistically you are absolutely right, but you are overlooking the fact that MINI’s, ‘raison d’être’, is to be the smallest car in its particular class.</p>

<p>You are correct. That’s how I view Mini’s lineup and why it’s so annoying when people complaining about their sizes. I think that’s what people forget when they keep saying Mini isn’t “mini” anymore, beating a dead horse to death. It’s all relative.</p>

Countryman is to Mini as Suburban is to Chevy
Clubman is to Mini as V60 is to Volvo
Cooper is to Mini as Golf is to VW
etc..etc..</p>
<p>you may say that two cars are not competitors because of 12in of length….But, we must cast aside this notion that we only cross-shop narrow segments. When I bought my MCS in 03 I was considering a WRX or Celica as the other options, not exactly comparables.
I will tell you as someone who is in this market that they absolutely alternatives to each other. My decision is almost exclusively between the future sportwagen and future clubman….It is going to very difficult for me to not buy the first to market….Or maybe I will just go ‘merican on y’all and buy a quad cab truck and start the kids into karting.</p>

<p>I wish the rear passenger were reverse opening. I like the lines but the interior should be more MINI and less BMW. I like the taillights.</p>

<p>Want to see in person to get a better sense of the dimensions. As another stated the doors look huge. I think another wheel/tire design will really change the look. Get a “sportier” wheel.</p>

<p>The vehicle isn’t long enough. It needs to be s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d at least another three feet and incorporate a 3rd axle. For cruising East Los Angeles and optional “low rider” pneumatic suspension system should be offered. Viva La MINI!</p>
