Supply of the new MINI Hatch, the F56, seems to have finally caught up with pent-up worldwide demand. BMW Group is reporting July 2014 as the best July in MINI sales history. Overall sales are up +3.2% and sales of the MINI Hatch itself are up 22.3% over July of last year, which side note, was the best July previously on record. Here’s MINI’s official statement:

MINI sales figures are above last year’s level, making it the brand’s best July ever. A total of 24,259 vehicles were delivered to customers worldwide (prev. yr. 23,515 / +3.2%) and this positive trend is expected to continue in the second half of the year. Sales of the new third-generation MINI Hatch, the brand’s core model, are up 22.3% compared to the same month last year with a total of 11,970 delivered in July (prev. yr. 9,785). In the year-to-date, a total of 156,154 MINIs were sold (prev. yr. 172,314 / -9.4%).

On the heels of a record-breaking July for MINI USA, it would seem the F56 is beginning to see the sales success MINI is not simply hoping for, but depending on. Year-to-date sales are also up for MINI USA. Unfortunately, as we reported earlier, the EPA continues to delay deliveries of US-bound MINIs for the time being, but from a brand enthusiasm standpoint, the new car is definitely resonating with buyers and that’s a good start. Hopefully this last obstacle to fulfilling state-side demand will abate shortly. Meanwhile, sales worldwide appear to be on a strong upward trajectory.
