MINI made a big jump this year in the JD Power Appeal Rankings moving up 30 points. It was enough to make the MINI Clubman and MINI hatch the winners in the Company and Compact Sport Car segments respectively. The Clubman’s win is particular impressive given the competition:

Based on experience with our long term Clubman Cooper S last year and our JCW Clubman this year we’d heartily agree. As you might have read we’ve been continually impressed with the design, performance and quality of the MINI Clubman over 25,000 miles.

What is the Appeal ranking? We’ll let JD Power explain:

Appealing vehicles display attractive exterior and interior design, deliver engaging performance, and are packed with surprise-and-delight features.

To measure owner satisfaction with these attributes, the annual J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) StudySM surveys thousands of new-vehicle buyers following the first 90 days of ownership, gathering responses to questions about 77 individual vehicle attributes. From this information, the company is able to determine which models in various market segments are the most appealing to their owners.

This year, a total of 25 models receive an award for their overall appeal. Displayed in alphabetical order by make and model on the pages that follow, these are the top-ranked cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans for overall appeal in their respective segments.
