The CitySurfer is MINI’s latest attempt providing a broader range of transportation solutions that go beyond the car. And to us it looks like a winner. 10-15 miles on a charger and it fits in a MINI’s boot. It could just be the perfect commuter vehicle if your commute involves multiple modes of transportation. Take a look at the gallery and let us know what you think in the comment section below. continued →

MINI is a transportation company. They solve transportation problems in smart and stylish ways that hold true to the MINI brand. And in this case that doesn’t necessarily mean an automotive solution. Today MINI takes the wraps off of the MINI Citysurfer, a product designed to solve transportation needs of urban dwellers in the most space and fuel efficient way possible while holding true to the kind of fun we expect with MINI products.
What we have here is a 40 lbs electric scooter with a 10-15 mile range that neatly folks to fit in the back of a MINI. Oh, and it looks incredible. Before you get your credit card out, keep in mind that this is a concept and MINI has not yet announced any concrete plans to build it let, alone a time-table. However, unlike MINI’s previous electric scooter concept, this looks entirely plausible from a production standpoint — especially if MINI partners with an existing manufacturer in the space.
The MINI Citysurfer will debut at the LA Auto Show this weekend alongside the Superleggera concept and the entire MINI range. If you’re in the area, check it out and let us know what you think. If not, hit up the comments below and let MINI know if they should build it. Either way, click through and check out the full gallery and official release.

Officially the news is that LA will see the US debut of the MINI five door and Superleggera concept. Unofficially we hear that MINI will be showing something else. Whether it’s a surprise new concept or a variation of a current model we don’t know. But we have our hunches it’s the former. Nevertheless here’s the official company line on what’s coming to LA. As you can see it’s impressive even without this latest rumor. Full official details of the show after the break. continued →

For several years MINI has been working on how to properly position the JCW sub-brand now that they have full access to BMW technology. The first glimpse into these efforts will be the internet debut of the 2015 MINI F56 JCW in December followed by the public debut in Detroit this January. The first JCW of MINI’s new era will pack the B48B20O0 2.0L four cylinder that will have an output of around 230 hp and torque over 255 ft lbs. With weight around 2,800 lbs this would give the 2015 JCW the best power to weight ratio of any MINI ever – by healthy margin. continued →

The recent Paris Motor Show gave MINI fans an excellent chance to finally get hands-on with the new four door (or is it five?). But there was something else on display that may have actually drew more of a crowd – the MINI Superleggera. And since we know most of you couldn’t make the trip to Paris, reader Troy French has provided us with a full gallery from the show. Click through and tell us what you think of both in the comment section. continued →

Official Release: The MINI model family once again presents distinctive personalities in its latest generation. The most recent example of an attractive addition to the model range of the British premium brand will be on show at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The international motor show in the French capital is the setting for the world premiere of the new MINI 5 door. The second body variant of the new MINI offers two additional doors as well as expanded space for occupants and luggage, thereby providing new ways of experiencing the brand’s hallmark driving fun and individual style in a premium model of the small car segment. This means that for the first time in the brand’s 55-year history, MINI is now represented in this vehicle category with a 5-door model.
