A MINI Cooper B-Spec race car driven by Robbie Davis, and fielded by MINI of Charleston, came in second at the first Grand Am B-Spec this last weekend. Davis not only lead the race at one point, but turned in the fastest lap time of the race. The podium was rounded out by a Mazda2 in first place and a Ford Fiesta in third. According to our man on the ground there at the race, the winning Mazda2 driver counts the track at Homestead as his “home track”, and Robbie Davis in the second place MINI was encountering the course for the first time. In fact, were it not for an untimely slide on the wet track, Davis may have taken first.

MINI of Charleston has announced official pricing for the B-spec parts package for the R56 MINI Cooper. If you want to go SCCA racing in your MINI, the kit will cost you around $6,000, plus tires and a roll cage. Not a bad deal! The total kit price will be in the $6k range, plus tires and cage… which MINI of Charleston can also provide, but pricing has yet to be set. Some of what the kit includes is custom KW V1 suspension, Vorshlag Camber plates, Way Motor Works stainless brake lines, safety window nets, wheels, ECU reflash, air filter, etc.

MINI USA is getting in the business of selling race cars. Today MINI took the wraps off of the new B-Spec Cooper that will be sanctioned to run in the SCCA, Grand Am, NASA and the World Challenge. Basically any weekend next spring, summer or fall you will likely be able to find some place to race the B-Spec Cooper.
