Official Release: A look ahead to the future of the MINI brand promises even greater driving fun and efficiency, evolutionary refinement of its unmistakable design and fresh options for individual style. This is supplemented by a more mature automobile character defined more than ever by premium quality, ride comfort, carefully conceived functionality and innovative technology. This look ahead to the new MINI is presented at the 2014 International Motor Show in Geneva, where it is further underscored by the world premiere of the MINI Clubman Concept. Immediately prior to its market launch, the new MINI sees the introduction of two additional model variants that are particularly fuel-efficient. The MINI One and MINI One D are presented in Geneva for the first time. MINI is setting the benchmark in terms of individual style and creativity – not just in the area of drive technology but also in the field of automobile concepts. With the MINI Clubman Concept, the British manufacturer demonstrates potential new ways of experiencing the new generation of driving fun.

Curious about the next MINI Clubman? The wait is over. MINI has taken the wraps off of the Clubman concept, and in doing so, given us a very clear view at the 2016 Clubman itself. As is customary with MINI and BMW’s lightly disguised concepts, it’s the hard-points that should be focused on. The Geneva Motorshow is one of the largest of the year and often a major source of Euro car debuts. Despite this things are relatively quiet from MINI with this year’s major debuts happening at Frankfurt in the fall or via the web this summer. However that hasn’t stopped other automakers from making Geneva a spectacular show this year – especially with the supercar debuts from Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and McLaren. Then there’s the debut of the new Golf GTI, AMG A45 and the Alfa 4C that may appeal to the small car lovers out there.

Geneva is a major auto show on the international circuit each year, and MINI and BMW both have used the Geneva venue to make some major announcements in the past. What about this year? MINI has just announced what they plan to bring with them to Switzerland this year, and as much as we’d like to tell you that you’ll see the 2014 MINI Cooper, the F56, it looks like for now MINI is staying focused on a new trim package (The Bond Street) for the Clubman, and a similar emphasis on JCW to what we saw at Detroit in January. They’re still excited about the Paceman JCW (as are we), and of course the JCW GP will be on hand. That, however, is as far as the official information goes. Is that it? MINI may very well have something else up their sleeves for this show in early March. MINI and BMW both are fond of showing pre-production cars as thinly veiled concept cars. Will we see an early F56? We don’t think so. Instead look for something a bit more conceptual but still foreshadowing something eventually meant for production.
