Back in 2013, the U.S. attempted to beat the record for the largest parade of MINIs in one location. That event was held at the majestic Mackinac Bridge (a.k.a. “Big Mac” or “Mighty Mac”). This summer, MINI USA and MINI of Grand Rapids are joining forces to break the Guinness World Record and take the crown from our European counterparts. White Roof Radio and MotoringFile will take part in the event and we suggest you do too. In the meantime, tell anyone with a driver’s license to attend this unprecedented gathering. continued →

MINI USA Marketing and Pixels

mini-pacman-ghostsBack in December, we wrote a review of MINI’s activity in the U.S. for 2014. One of the sections of this post, “Don Draper and a VP of Devil’s Advocacy,” reflected on MINI USA’s marketing efforts for the past year. The key takeaway on this topic was that MINI USA needed to name a VP of Devil’s Advocacy to think with the assumption that everyone else is wrong when projects like the Final Test Test Drive and the Motoring Tag are put on the table. Based on Adam Sandler’s latest movie trailer, Pixels, it appears that MINI USA has yet to find this VP. Or worse, they haven’t even started looking for one. continued →

MINIUSA is going racing with the new F56 JCW. On paper it looks to be the right car, the right class and the right race team. Furthermore it’s with a great group of drivers. Stephen Simpson and Dan Clarke in particular are part of the Miles Ahead program at the Indianapolis Speedway and are not only excellent drivers but great instructors and as nice of guys as you will ever meet. Join MotoringFile in wishing them and the rest of the team luck as they tackle Sebring this weekend.

Official Release: MINI USA and LAP Motorsports LLC today confirmed the team’s driver line-up for MINI’s return to the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge (CTSCC) in the Street Tuner (ST) class. The Indianapolis-based MINI John Cooper Works team owned and operated by racing veteran Luis Perocarpi will make its racing debut this weekend at the Microsoft Visual Studio 150 at Sebring International Raceway in Florida. continued →

In what can only be described as a shocking turn of events MINI USA has decided to pull out of the NYC Auto Show just weeks before the doors open. It was rumored that MINI had intended to use the show to unveil the new F57 convertible. It’s unclear if a change of plans with that car led to the pull-out or something more MINI USA specific or even if it’s a part of a broader auto show strategy. Read on for the full official statement. continued →

The release of new models along with strong volumes from a number of countries (i.e. Germany, Great Britain, Italy, North America, South Korea, and China) are the primary drivers for this month’s performance. While Global numbers are not broken out by model, MINI’s press release offers a number of interesting tidbits: continued →

MINI USA Sales Up 51% for February 2015

MotoringFile Sections: Official News, Sales Mar 3rd, 2015 36 Comments

MF_Wp_R57_Snow1600If you’ve read the automotive press, you must have noticed that most manufacturers reported lower than anticipated U.S. sales for February. This is mostly due to the unprecedented winter storms repeatedly hitting the Northeast and Midwest regions. However, MINI USA managed to plow through February with a staggering 51.3% sales increase over the same month last year. Similarly to January 2015, this number has to be taken with caution given how low MINI USA sales started from, but with that in mind let’s look at how each model did this month. continued →
