The JCW Show! We talk about the Factory JCW, the JCW Challenge Car and I give my thoughts on the R53 vs R56.
See that R/C car up there? Ridemakerz are only making a limited number of them, and they will only be available at the last 2 MTTS events!
Speaking of limited number, Todd is also selling a very limited edition Motoringbadge that is also only available on-site at MTTS. If you want one, you’d better find him early ’cause they go quick!
News of the week from Motoringfile.com, but since it was mostly MTTS related, we recapped the week instead.
We had a great week and you’ve seen most of it. To recap, we posted over 700 photos, over an hour of video and almost 2 hour of audio! Thanks everyone for checking it out or coming by to say during the event. It was great to meet you all!
Planning to attend Chicago or LA? Don’t forget to register. They also posted quite a few updates during Miami and Boston that you can see here.
Here it is, all of the audio from MTTS 2008. Listen in as we start in Miami and work our way north to Boston. With many interviews along the way.
Some of you have asked about the MINI we drove. We had an Astro Black R56 S with body colored roof, sunroof and automatic transmission. Yes, we know we are Whiteroofradio. I think someone at MINI USA was having a little bit of fun with us.
This is the last of the audio and there is quite a bit of it. I still have more coming in the shape of video and photos, so you can watch for those later today.
Exclusive! The Factory JCW will be getting the burble exhaust sound back as was on late R53 models. This is great news and you can see and hear for yourself at your local dealer starting July 14.
We arrived in Miami on Friday ready and rarin’ to go! First stop was Bicentennial Park for some meeting, some greeting and a viewing a National Treasure 2. I heard that Nicholas Cage might have been at the park that night, but didn’t see him myself. We did see, however, Rauno Aaltonen and The Stig’s fat cousin as you have seen and heard. The fat cousin guy is actually a great chap by the name of Ian that tells a great joke!
Saturday started again at Bicentennial Park with a breakfast and even more MINIs! The MINIs of Miami club and Sunshine MINIs were almost all in attendance. Once all of the MINIs were there (I didn’t get an exact count, but I think it was almost 400!) and lined up, Florida’s Finest gave us a police escort from the park all the way out of the downtown area! It was like a parade of MINIs!
After a short popsicle stop, we all continued to Homestead International Raceway to get things underway!
We’ve been talking to Rauno everyday this week and getting some great stories from him! This is our actually interview with him from MTTS Miami.
Little did Rauno know, but Todd kept the recorder running a little longer than the actual interview, so we also got him talking about traction and how it applies to the MINI. He is brilliant!
Enjoy.
By the way, you have registered, right? If you are planning to attend MTTS Boston, Chicago or LA, make sure you do that now!
We are all here and to start you off, we went to Bicentennial Park to hang out with about 300 MINI and Mini owners who were treated to a Movie by MINIUSA and MINIs of Miami.
We are off to get Day 2 started! Until I get a chance to get them organized and posted, you can view the photos on my Flickr stream. You can get a sneak peak at the videos here as well.
There will be more later! Plus, we will be making an attempt and doing something live from Homestead! Keep an eye on my Twitter for updates.
Our last show before MTTS. Remember we are going to be live from the event and the road! I actually did some testing with a cell connection that you can check out below. Audio is great, video is not that hot. But, if we get a good connection on the road, we’ll try to do video as well.
About the hydrogen pumps in Southern California, check out this Gizmodo article. We spend a bit of time talking about this and what we think the next big thing is actually going to be.
We will be at MTTS at the end of the week. Stay tuned in here, MF and WR.tv for all the action. Complete details for keeping track of everything while we are there and on the road will be coming in another day or two.
Just Todd and I hangin’ out, talking about news from Motoringfile.com.
We are not 100% sure if Gabe still has a MINI or listens to the show. We are 100% sure he is busier than a one legged man at a pie eating contest, so we are cutting him very huge amounts of slack.
Want to check out the Ultimate Apocalypsemobile? here’s the link.
We start off with some rambling, some MTTS stuff and a reminder that we do accept, quite gladly in fact, beverages of any type.
Todd does go through the hypermiling techniques that he is using to get close to 25mpg out of his 3 Series Wagon in the city. It helps that he is battling with his wife, who is getting 32mpg out of an ‘03 R53! I still have him beat with my 30mpg in the city, but I didn’t want to rub it in.
MTTS is almost here! We are going to be everywhere with our recorders, cameras and laptops posting all kinds of things here and at MF. But, if you want to make sure you get all of it when it happens, here are a few other places to stalk db follow along.h
Todd and I take a quite romp through the last two weeks news from Motoringfile without Gabe since he was otherwise unavailable.
Watch for a new badge coming soon. Details in the show.
Go back and catch our last interview with Gina from MINIUSA if you missed it. It should also be in the feed now. Sorry about that.
Also, most of the MTTS details have been posted including route information for the run from Miami to Boston, including hotel suggestions. All of the bands have been announced as well. You can get all of this information, plus sign up for updates via email or subscribe via RSS at minitakesthestates.com. While you are there, take a minute to 2 to register for the event you are going to attend.
Again with the re-runs? Yep, I am afraid so. Don’t worry, I picked a great show for you tonight. Woofcast #141. Worth a re-listen if only to hear Gabe attempt an intro. It’s truly awesome.
Don’t worry, we’ll be back next week just like you like. We only need a short break!
Woofcast #141 Show Notes
To start with, db just didn’t want to do the intro tonight. You benefit. Trust me.
