Just in time to say good bye to Solar Red, Liquid Yellow and Purple Haze, MINI USA has announced that a new supplier has been found for S4PN-Space Grey/Panther Black Cloth. It should be available for ordering as of right… now.

The MINI Cooper S JCW GP edition will be publicly debuting in final production trim at the Geneva Autoshow in early march. And with that date fast approaching, MINI.com has a few new JCW GP photos that do a great job of showing the car, well, in a new light. Also listed on the new site are the now familiar performance numbers that were released last October; 88lbs weight reduction and 218bhp. Does this mean they there won’t be any spec changes when the car debuts in production trim at Geneva in three weeks time? We’ve heard recent rumors that suggest that both the changes may still happen and that they won’t. In fact the only thing we really can count on is that we’ll know the answer in about three weeks time.

As the MINI Plant in Oxford gets ready to commence large scale production of the new MINI later next year, expect availability of some options to change. Specifically we’ve learned that Black Eye Purple (Purple Haze in the US), Liquid Yellow and Solar Red will be discontinued from April production onward. We should see a few other changes later in the year as well.

Until recently the only information available for the new 2006 colors came from either the MINIUSA configurator flash animation or a color sample at the dealership. Neither one was a very good way to gage just how the new colors would look. To aid those spec’ing their 2006 MINIs, today we take a look at how the Solar Red body color and the new bonnet stripes look “in the flesh.”
