The JCW Cooper Sound Kit US Pricing

MotoringFile Sections: JCW, R50 (Coupe), Uncategorized Aug 19th, 2005 61 Comments

One of the little nuggets released yesterday with the new 2006 MINIUSA configurator was the full pricing on the US Spec JCW Cooper Sound Kit. The Sound Kit will retail for $1100 and will be available only as a dealer accessory. There’s no word on install time but expect at least 2-4 hours and $200-$400 added onto the final bill. Here’s the official product info on the JCW Cooper Sound Kit from MINI:

True, the John Cooper Works Sound Kit for the MINI Cooper does not replace the HiFi system in the car. But if the station search function is not able to keep up with the speed of the MINI Cooper round fast bends, the sound kit comes in very handy, this “radio straight from the engine compartment” ensuring perfect reception at all times: The special connection between the air filter and the interior is tuning for your ears, naturally live and with extra legroom in the front row.

New JCW Options for 2006

MotoringFile Sections: JCW, R50 (Coupe), R52 (Conv.), R53 (Coupe), Uncategorized Aug 3rd, 2005 72 Comments

mini

Like MINI, JCW will be releasing a few juicy new bits for the last model year of the current generation MINI. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect for 2006.

As we’ve reported way too many times over the past several months, MINI will be offering the full JCW Engine Kit as a factory option for the MCS. The kit will retail for $6300 (£3,600 in the UK) and will come standard with the JCW Sport Brake Kit and Limited Slip Differential. In the US it will require the addition of the Sport Package due to the larger brakes. For the UK it will simply require 17″ wheels ordered with the car from the factory. The JCW Engine Kit will be available as a factory option from 10/05 on.

(Update: To clarify what we mentioned early – the 16″ X-lite wheels will clear the JCW brakes but due to the tight fit there may be coolng issues with them. Therefore they are not recommended with the brake kit. The only 16″ wheel designed to work with the JCW Brake kit are the new 16″ Bridge Spokes.)

A Closer Look at Solar Red & Space Blue

MotoringFile Sections: Uncategorized Jul 29th, 2005 27 Comments

For all those considering Solar Red and or Space Blue we’ve got some closer real life shots for you. As previously mentioned Solar Red will only be available on the Cooper. Space Blue on the other hand will be available on both the Cooper and Cooper S. Neither of these new metallic colors will be optional on the Convertible however. Confused yet? Good, because both colors will also be available with the new US Spec Checkmate Package (including blue and grey interior). Of course neither the Checkmate Package nor Solar Red will be available until 10/05 production. Okay, now I’m confused…
