We’ve got some new desktop wallpaper for you. Like the last addition to our collection this also comes from David Bunting. This time we’re featuring a photo he took a year ago on a trip to the Port Hueneme VPC. For those that don’t know, the VPC (Vehicle Distribution Port) is where BMW and MINI process all incoming customer cars. You can check out Dave’s other photos and his full write-up of the experience here. You can get the new desktop wallpaper below.

Great post, Gabe. I learned a lot about my MCS en route. Does anyone know how MINIs get from Oxford to the West Coast? Are they shipped to NY/NJ and then driven across the country to the Port Hueneme VPC? Or do they take a boat journey through the Panama Canal?

You need to provide these in 2560×1600, I’d kill for that!

There are lots of “waiting for” threads on MINI2 and NAM that discuss where their MINI is – the cars go through the Panama Canal!

Gabe, isn’t this story a year old now? Although the pics are great no matter how old they are :)

The owner of the MINI with the crushed roof posted on MINI2. The dealer disclosed the info to him and he was, upon last reporting, taking delivery of the repaired version.

Oh yeah we covered the VPC visit originally almost exactly a year ago: motoringfile.com/2004/01/25/vehicledistributioncenter_pictures

However we’ve had a few requests for more desktops and Dave gave us these. Since so many of MF readers are new from the past year I figured many hadn’t seen the original story.

Mike: I wish I could offer this one in that format, but at the time I was shooting on a 4 MP camera.

I’m now shooting 6 MP with a Nikon D70, so if I do another set of wallpapers at some point in the future, I’ll try to remember to include that size.

OK, how about 1920×1200?

That’s the res I run at on my home PC (Sony GDM-FW900 24″ widescreen)

Hey, what’s that BMW X3 doing hiding next to the Red Cooper S in the middle of the photo? :)

These wallpapers are great! Keep them coming!

Great thanks David. Nice work!
