From MINIUSA press:
MINI USA reported a rise in January sales with 2,917, compared to the 2,756 sold in 2004. The MINI Cooper Convertible and MINI Cooper S Convertible models were introduced in September 2004.
The BMW Group (BMW and MINI brands combined) reported sales of 19,764 vehicles in January 2005, an increase of 22.5% percent over the January 2004 sales of 16,135.
BTW – for those scoring at home, MINIUSA missed the magic 100,000 sales mark by just under 500 with the addition of January’s sales. It should be broken sometime in early February.

I’ll bet it has something to do with the LSD and Convertible maybe….?

Might have a little bit to do with the MCSa as well.

Gabe,

Any indication if this is the result of a real production increase (i.e. a growth trend over time) or maybe just one more ship came in to port with MINIs this month (showing up as a one time jump).

Congratlations MINI

January sales are actually low compared with most months (although Jan’05 is higher than Jan’04); see all sales data here.
The reason is likely a combination of UK holidays and the new-for-2005 changes being phased in. It is not likely to be due to a fall in demand!
