From HelloMagazine.com:
There was a time when stylish Italian marques like Ferrari and Lamborghini were the only set of wheels an A-list star would want be seen in. Then came the age of four-by-fours, and armour-plated Humvees became an all-too-familiar sight at red carpet events. But some big names in showbiz seem to be downsizing in a major way, swapping their gas-guzzling monsters for the nimble Mini Cooper.

Now all those mindless people who think celebrities set trends will want a MINI just because the stars have them…

I don’t think thats a good thing, the MINI deserves better.

Not to be confused with Minnie Driver.

It’s just not a quality website if you’re not quoting from Hello Magazine :)

Well, now that the venerable Times has gone tabloid, I guess Motoringfile will be next. 😉 Dibs on the Page 3 girls! This article could’ve been right out of a Swinging 60’s rag, with pics of Peter Sellars and various mod birds in classic Minis. HeHe!
Il Commendatore drove an ‘S’, remember.

The ozbourns have/had a Jet black/black MC with some rims.

Note madonna getting out of her MINI on the passenger side…haha.

That’s not the passenger side, she lives in England.

Not if you go by the plates on that minivan in front. She was shotgun.

Time to get my windows tinted. Have to keep the paparazzi on their toes…

Whoa, Not a good shot of Goldie.

From what I hear, there are a lot of racecar drivers as well.

They include:
Bobby Rahal
Juan Pablo Montoya
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Bobby Labonte
and several other NASCAR drivers.

There is nothing humble about the MINI (except maybe it’s price compared against other cars these high profile peoples garages)

Can’t tell about Goldie’s, but it appears that poor Madonna & Elijah can’t afford S’s.

I just think they can’t/won’t drive stick.
They probably got theirs pre-MCSa, judging by the fact that, well… that they have them already. Then again, LA traffic is frequently bumper-to-bumper. That must be torture w/ a stick.

Some of us choose to buy a non S. I prefer the base MINI’s gas mileage.

oh boy… bad choice of words there Nervous.

Is/was gas mileage the deciding factor in a decision between an MC and an MCS for you, James? I hope not. If so, there are plenty of other makes to look at that do it better, in the same price range, and I’ll be so bold as to say you’re looking at MINI for all the wrong reasons.

As for the LA celeb residents (and non-celebs), I tend to think the day-to-day gridlock decides the purchase for them.

I could be wrong. All three of the pics could indeed be sticks, and I would eat my words.

Okay… here goes.

There are many reasons to get an MC over an MCS. With that said, I personally wouldn’t consider mileage differences a factor. But who’s to say others can’t?

From my experience there can be as much as a 8-10 mpg difference in mileage between the two in city driving.

Yes, there are plenty of reasons to pick MC over MCS, but to choose an MC over an MCS with the balance being tipped by gas mileage sounds highly unlikely (yes, I suppose it is possible).

It sounds more likely if it was a choice between an MC and a Civic, or something along those lines. Also, I think that those who even consider an MCS aren’t thinking foremost about mileage in the first place.

I like the MCS mileage when it comes to the daily commute, but it’s mid to low on the list as to what draws me to it.

Penn Jillette (of “Penn & Teller”) drives a HotPink (stripper-RED as he calls it) MINI Cooper.

I’ve always thought Penn and Teller rocked. Now I know they roll as well! 😉 Beautiful!

Yes, I chose the base MINI over the S because of fuel economy. I never considered a Civic or Prius.

I commute via a wonderful windy mountain road every day, where handling is everything.

Too many writers assume that their never- satisfied fixation on more and more horsepower (ignoring the accompanying cost in gas mileage) is shared by everyone.

Don’t forget Adam Corolla, someone who actually knows a thing or two about cars. Rumor was that Brock Yates has one also, but don’t quote me on that…

Brock Yates/MCS (C&D), Jamie Kittman/MCS (Automobile, Car), Steve Davis/MC (Motorweek), Peter Egan/MCS (Road and Track).

That’s a good idea. I suppose you could say my personal blog is sort of a MF backpage: Bridger.us

I think the reason why we choose to buy one car make/model over another one is mostly an emotional one. What is our own preceived image. Auto companies rely
on this emotional response. So, whatever you choose to purchase and drive, enjoy it because it is a part of you personality.

just when I thought the Mini will be my fun but strongly anti-establishment statement, some “celebrities” have decided they should have them too. I guess I should hang on to my honda Accord. Mr Dealer, can I have my deposit back please
