Top Gear does the best job of any of the larger media outlets in cutting through the rumors and getting to the fact about the next generation MINI. While there’s probably nothing in the articles that MF readers would consider new information, it’s a great recap of what we know and what we’ll see in the coming years.

“… and then there’s the disgruntled mob over at Getrag who’ve lost their gearbox contract because you told them the next car had to have a six-speed manual and a ‘proper’ auto, by which you meant anything but a CVT I guess?”
eh?
I thought that Getrag made all of the trannys for the MINI? Not just the CVT. So, no AWD huh?
“Handy when you’re trying to sell small cars for £5,000 more than the opposition. And, of course, if familiarity does breed contempt, BMW can draw some comfort from the fact that, second time around, there will be a whole range of Minis; three doors, cabriolets, Travellers, even Mokes and pickups are possible, say the unusually candid BMW people. ”
OH NO a Moke!
“Like those clever hinges, BMW’s taken a patent out on it. Now why would you do that?”

I’ve been told they’re not meant for production anytime soon.
Mokes were kool!
I thought ZF made the CVT transmission.
This article is from Nov. of last year. I would venture that Top Gear didn’t have the info that we have now.
Ok I’ll be the dumb guy, what’s a moke?
Google is your friend 😉

Do take note that the white example in one of the first pictures is a shortened version. This car was originally developed as a military vehicle, based on Mini running gear.
There’s also a few pictures in there of what a “modern” Moke could look like.
Eelke………I’ll take the one with the CutOffs thank you!!!
