Here’s a quick update on what to expect and when to expect it for the US market. As we mentioned previously, MINI will be holding off introducing the R56 to the US market until December production. That means the cars in the US are expected reach some dealers by late January.
The R56 will make it’s world debut at the Paris autoshow in late September and in the US at (drum roll please)…. the LA autoshow in early December.
Dealers from around the world will get a chance to sample the new car in Rome Italy (both on the road and on the track) sometime shortly after the Paris introduction in October.
Cars for the rest of the world will reportedly begin production in late September and early October.

Nice to see the L.A. auto show’s bid to regain some importance by bumping up a month is paying off.
Hmmm. A trip to LA is now in the cards. 😉

The suspense is killing me I don’t know if I can wait that long! 😛
Hey, we (L.A.) had the Bugatti Veyron this past show, this’ll be even better! 🙂

A trip to LA is now in the cards
– for me, only if I didn’t have to drive on those crazy roads 😉
Too bad all the “other” car manufacturers will be releasing their “08” models a month after that!
MINI is really bucking the trend of releasing the next years car 9 months before the new calendar year actually starts. Feels that way anyhow..
Ian, it’s OK I’ll take you on the Metro. You can stay with me & the wife. Come on out!

September can’t be soon enough. Thanks for the update, Gabe.
What’s the good word on the ’07 JCW? Still late ’07? That’s really depressing, if so.

How about a July launch at the London motor show.
According to Autocar “Company officials are not denying it”.
This would be far more appropriate for a brand that is promoted as British than a launch in France.
Does anyone out there know if there will be a non-turbo 2007 Mini sold in the US?
Only if you do it yourself.
