We’ve got downloads! But first, here’s an updated press release from Phil Wicks and MavTV that goes into a bit more detail about the upcoming MINI Challenge coverage in North America.
>Phil Wicks Racing and its marketing agency, Mackey Marketing Group are pleased to announce that negotiations have been completed for the 2005 and 2006 MINI Challenge Series from the U.K. to be televised in the USA. The U.K.-based MINI Challenge Series is the basis for the North American MINI Cooper Championship that commenced racing in 2006. Under the guidance of long time MINI racing professional Phil Wicks, the North American MINI Cooper Championship will stage six events in 2006 with an expanded schedule in 2007.
>“Televising the U.K. Series here in the USA is the first step toward developing the U.S. series to be of similar stature and success,†said Phil Wicks. “I think that many MINI fans will discover the tremendous excitement and competitive nature of the MINI Challenge in the U.K. and will want to join in our racing series being developed for the American market. We’re very excited that we have made these arrangements to televise the U.K. MINI Challenge Series.â€ÂÂ
>The racing will debut on the newly launched MavTV. MavTV is a new network that carries a variety of programming themes targeting men 18-54, including sports, sports analysis, gaming, comedy, women and relationships, health and fitness, finance, gadgets, and movies. MavTV is a 24/7 destination channel dedicated to reaching men in an irreverent, humorous, opinionated fashion. Now MINI racing joins the mix of programming that is carried by the network. Times and broadcast schedules will be announced soon. MINI enthusiasts that don’t receive MavTV on their cable system are encouraged to call their local cable provider and ask for it. For additional information on MavTV visit their website at www.mavtv.com.
>“The quality of the racing TV coverage is superb,†added Mackey Marketing president, Brian Mackey. “This series makes great television viewing and I think the American audiences will love the action and the competitive nature of this series. I want to thank MavTV for believing in our product and providing this opportunity. We look forward to a great relationship with MavTV.â€ÂÂ
>Phil Wicks owns and operates the Phil Wicks MINI Driving Academy as well as administering the North American MINI Cooper Championship racing series. Phil Wicks has been involved with the Mini Cooper since its inception in the 1960s and has been a significant presence in the MINI enthusiast community for fifty years.
That’s great but how will this stuff look on TV? Well to answer that question we’re happy to present to you three MavTV promos for the upcoming MINI Challenge Series. Check them out:
MINI Crash Promo / Size Doesn’t Matter / The MINIs are Coming (WMV)
Phil is also working with MavTV on a special show about the MINI in America. The format is still being discussed, but watch for more announcements. Check with your cable provider to see if MAV TV is coming to your area.
Hello… This are great news!!! Will be some manner to download the races or any type of broadcasting? Thank you!
Awesome, way to go Phil!
I just check with Comcast and they don’t currently have that station in Eagan, MN. Send them an email, ask them to carry this station.
Does everyone get the music in one channel and the voiceover in another channel? Someone forgot to mixdown the audio…
The Crash promo is of course the best one. 🙂
There simply aren’t that many markets that even have MavTV. It looks like you might have a shot if you have Charter communications or verizon as your cable provider, but Adelphia, Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, EchoStar, and Time Warner (to name a few), appear to not carry the channel in any market as part of any package (basic, premium, or otherwise).
These initial downloads provide some encouragement that maybe someone has seen the light that the best way to reach the most U.S. MINI owners anytime soon is by way of the internet.
i don’t have MavTV now (i don’t have Speed tv either) but i just found out that when i move into my new place (6/1) i will have MavTV! yay!
The MINI Crash Promo brings back too many bad memories… We had to completely rebuild car #35 in just a few weeks ready for the next round. We did it with a day to spare and then took two podiums at Castle Combe.
All of you that will get to see the 2005 season are very lucky and will love it.
GLEN
Deffinetly looking forward to this, thanks for info Gabe.
just watched the promos. boy those cars are cute. 😉
You can watch MavTV live on vdc.com it’s awesome!!!
Yes, I watching MavTV on VDC, channel 401… Can’t wait for the race!
Hey yeah I am watching it on VDC too! The race should be awesome!!! Have fun watching it John and Peter! 🙂
What about satellite customers that have Direct TV? Is Direct TV going to have MavTV?
At least according to the MavTV website DirecTV is not currently carrying MavTV
That’s all great and all and a needed first step – but the reality is that most of us will not be able to get MavTV. This leads me to my next question – where can I download MINI Challenge Round 2?
I just checked out vdc.com. Only works correctly in IE (or with a firefox plugin that I somehow think won’t work right on a Mac) and it is not free. Dang, too bad.
Hey does anybody know what that music is on “The MINIs are coming”?
Alguien sepa como se llama la musica de “The MINIs are coming”?

Mike, I’m not sure which videos you were watching, I didn’t see any “Cute” cars anywhere.
I just signed up with http://www.vdc.com to get MavTV for the Mini Challenge. So far so good and I even get the channel right on my cell phone! Awesome!!
Cool promos. My cable company doesn’t carry mavTV, my phone company does but they dont offer cable TV. What’s with that, do I have to watch MINI Challenge on my cell phone?

Get a PC!!
I called my cable provider today and they said they know about MavTV. I also was the second person to call and ask about the minis. I think if we call these guys, they might put MavTV on. It’s worth a shot. I can remember when you couldn’t find SPEED anywhere and that wasn’t that long ago.

I didn’t see a smiley, but I’ll take it as good natured ribbing. 🙂
vdc.com probably uses DRM’ed Windows media streams. So I think you mean “Get a windows based pc”. No thanks! Ten years of supporting windows based pc’s and servers is enough. 😀
Let’s hope MavTV makes it big.
