I am biased – but I have to say that the car looks great in the metal. The pictures make the car look really good and are definately the best outdoor pictures I have see yet!
Sorry – I have just realised that if the car pictured is 1601 – then where the hell is my motor Mini UK?
Maybe Mini have stashed them all somewhere secret to torcher potential owners?
It is nice to finally see it closer up. But, GABE..it just reaffirms my decision to go with the 2006 MCS much more solid. Good luck to all those who will own one and welcome aboard the MINI train!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for some really good pics’……
Glad to hear the car getting some more appreciation after the initial pasting it took!
Sorry Gabe but I also think that if the arches and aero-kit were colour co-ordinated the car would look better! It is a shame that the aero-kit itself is not colour co-ordinated because you have a black plastic, then blue and then back to black plastic effect!
The basic car is sweet, but I agree with the comments about the mis-matching trim. Combined with the tacky spoiler (however functional it is) it just looks unfinished to me. The ugly wheels don’t help. Not something I expected from MINI or JCW. The rest of the car is great IMHO.
What I really want is that decal trim around the hood scoop – distinctive, and you don’t need to have a same-coloured roof like you need to with bonnet stripes. Surely some aftermarket company could make something like that, if it’s not available from MINI?
Having read the comments from several GP articles it would seem a mixed review. I am sure there is a MINI to suit every ones personal tastes, that would be variety is the spice of life!
If I were MINI, I would have put a third headlight in the middle of the grille, then it would really look good…………It would look more like this me thinks!
I not a fan of the colour.. at tad boring but I could live with it, the 4 spoke wheels, not my cup of tea but all in all I think it’s pretty spot on…….
Painting the wheel arches to me seems like buying a car like the “Judge” ripping off the decals and painting it some non factory color??? But to each his own.
I may be in Monterey later this year so I may be there for the delivery. I can make my real judgement then….. ;¬)
The reason why the Mini is such a popular car is imo down to the amount of options available. Everyone has different tastes, so a car like this was never going to appeal to all. I have to admit I hated the look of the car when I first saw it but over time it has really grown on me. And the pictures of the GP taken in Hockenheim are the best I’ve seen yet. And have left me with no doubt in the flesh this will be a stunning car.:o) I just can’t wait to get my mits on it.

It looks great! I like it more in these pics than I did in any of the promo pics that I saw from MINI.
i have a feeling that once we see these cars in person we will appreciate their looks more.

Getting closer and closer Todd!
I see that they will indeed have the horrible trim mismatch on the finished units
1626 it is! Thanks!
As the post said, “danke für die Pics”. What did the sign in the window say?
I’d have those arches painted in a second! That would really clean up the look of the car.

c’mon folks, the car looks great, all of us who don’t get one are jealous, just admit it.

Still love the GP though!
are you kidding, that trim mismatch makes it look like an amateur body kit….very tacky for a 35k special edition….no thanks.
……. and I think the dr agrees with me!
OH-, wenn ich nur das Geld hatte! Das würde süsses ein wenig Fahrt sein!

The wheels are still ugly and the spoiler is still goofy-looking, but everything else seems to have come together nicely.

Each to their own.
