Up to 45 “MINI Cooper S with JCW GP kit” MINIs will be delivered to their new owners in less than four weeks, in Monterey, California at the Monterey Historic (http://www.montereyhistoric.com/) weekend. As well as the key hand-over ceremony on Friday August 18, there will be a number of MINI USA organized events for the GP buyers, including a welcome dinner, and access to the Monterey Historic Automobile Races, and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. See this article on GPMINI.net for more information.

Additionally, NorCal MINIs has reserved a Club Corral area for many of their club members – there will be loads of MINIs attending this weekend, and hopefully many of them will join the MINI Takes The States drive which starts from Monterey on Monday August 21st

Many of the early delivery GPs were recently loaded onto the Wallenius Wilhelmsen ship (The Liberty), in Bremerhaven, due to arrive in New York at the end of July (and presumably then to be hauled across country in time for the event). There have been many questions asked by GP buyers, and a group of us have got together with by email, pooling our resources to gather answers (did you know, for example, that the GP has no rear speakers, and that the parcel bar which replaces the rear seats is not suitable for attaching racing seat belts). We are also chatting about other activities available during the Monterey weekend (please get in contact with us; we’d love to have you join in our planning discussions on the mailing list …
