MotoringFile has learned that MINI is planning to launch the new range of JCW accessories as early as February of 2007. For those in the US that means (if all goes well) R56 JCW accessories should be ready for sale on and near the official launch date in February.
The Detroit Autoshow should see the debut of several JCW accessories as well as the US JCW catalog that will eventually make its way to dealers. Expect the aero kit (now branded as a JCW part) to be on sale by early spring and the full JCW performance kit available from the factory for the 2008 model year.
Note: we do not have larger images of the accessories at this time.
Does this mean that the JCW seats will become available in the US? Previously you also hinted that the Recaro’s may also become available in the near future. Any further word on that? If so will they be adaptable to 2006 models? Thanks Gabe, Steve
Ha! Looks like MINI Engineering still has NO problem coming up a few threads short on those strut mount nuts either! 😉
Wheels look nice… Might not get the flame ones if these are not too pricey.
bluzeke – at least the JCW nuts have sleeves to grip most of the bolt down to the sheetmetal, unlike the popular aftermarket (aka) M7 option.
I second the seat question.
It’s good to see that they are placing the shift lights in the drivers line of site instead of the middle of the dash.
I REALLY LOVE THOSE SEATS! Oh well…

So they can charge more for it 😉
I am betting on the seats being available. The primary reason for the unavailability of the last generation JCW seats in the US was based on the lack of side impact bags, atleast by what I remember hearing from a dealer. The thing that gives me hope is that if you go to the JCW site (following the link from mini’s site) you can see the seat now says that it has side impact air bags.
JCW performance for 08′ models. Sounds like it won’t be available until next fall. Since it will be a factory only option that leaves all 07′ buyers out except for the aftermarket. Glad I’m waiting for the convertible.
I think (hope) there’s a chance of the seats being available in the US since they are designing them from the getgo. It’s not just the side airbags, but the weight sensors in the passenger side as well that keep the other nice seats from crossing the pond.
i think that since the hood scoop wasnt functional that they should have included some kind of aero kit to set the S apart from the regular cooper instead of just a center mounted exhaust
GZ,
It has been posted here several times [Thank you Gabe] that the JCW for the R56 would not be available until late 07 anyway. I am assuming that, for the US at least, ’07 will be a shortened model year and the 08’s will be a September/October 2007 release
How much more umph! will the JCW kit offer?
Hey gabe these are beautiful pictures, um would u mind emailing me image 9 of 12, the one with the mini in the garage?
AND THOSE SEATS! i wish i had them..
How much more umph! will the JCW kit offer?
Well, according to MotoringFile, it will have 300hp and possibly All Wheel Drive….. 😉
You are joking right? Because if there is awd, I’m waiting for the JCW for sure.
Sorry to be redundant John. Nina, that has been posted here several times(thanks Gabe)on motoringfile that the JCW will have 350 HP, all wheel drive, and nitrous oxide.
… and a 50/50 weight distribution!
=R=
Finally some JCW seats for us yanks (well hopefully anyway)

We’ll let you know the moment we know anything further. But yes, at this point I’ve been given basically a wink and nod about JCW seats in the US for the R56.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Yes that’s a really bad joke referencing <a href="http://motoringfile.com/2006/07/31/scoop-more-power-for-the-2008-jcw-cooper-s/" rel="nofollow">this story</a>.
So was that story deemed a joke; or just his comment?
It’s just BLING, folks! Nothing I see makes it go faster or handle better. Front strut bar?? Oh, please!
Shift lights? Are you deaf?
I had a student in a hot STi who watched his guages inside the cockpit instead of keeping his eyes up on the track, shifted at all the wrong times, had no idea where his brake points and turn in points were, missed his apexes and probably added 10 unnecessary seconds to his lap times.
Not impressed. With either one.
🙁
