A quick update on our earlier report that the US spec MINIs would have different seat cushions than the rest of the world. It looks like we were only partially correct. While the gorgous “Lounge” leather seating (aka English leather on the R50 and R53) will indeed feature a simplified lower cushion, the other US spec MINI seats will be unchanged.
(The Lounge seating cushion design will be identical to the “English Leather” cushion found on the R52 and R53 with English Leather option)
Well if your going to be wrong, be wrong in a good way I guess. Good to hear we are not being short changed. This woudn’t have anything to do with being a bigger sales market would it?
I wish it were the other way around (speaking as someone who really likes the Lounge leather).
Thank goodness we get the center bolster! The seats look much more sporting with it there, just like some of BMW’s //M seats. Bravo MINI!
The configurator still shows the seats with the flat bottom. 🙁 Hopefully that will be changed soon.
Would this include the gravity leather too? If so, I see some beige in my future…
cheers!!
Any clues on whether the JCW seats will be available in the US?
If you check motoring file previous features you will discover that JCW seats may be offered at some later date. There are airbag issues to overcome. Perhaps they will be available when MINI releases their JCW edition?
The R65 JCW seats shown in promotional pics are the Recaro Sportster CS with an airbag module bolted to the outer shell. That works for me.
