And they managed to get MINI USA VP Jim McDowel and MINI USA Product Manager Jeff Stracco to basically do it for them on video. Nevermind the terrible on-screen graphics and that really annoying intro…
This is so informative… but so… boring… yawn I guess it’s good for the average American buyer who sees their vehicle as a transport device, and not a car. You know, for those who go from A to B, without motoring in between.
Overall they liked it with some caveats. They were:
1. Center Speedo is too big
2. S Cooper with Sport Package it’s still quite stiff.
3. For Non Motoring enthusiast the Cooper (non S) is a more friendly car
4. S Cooper with the turbo is not as responsive off the line as the supercharged engine
They also said Mini did a good job of keeping the changes “Minimal”. Excellent handling, better rear seat leg room, improved Seats (support and comfort), improved gas milage.

LOL I just watched him drop the camera… it’s a go kart, man! Come on! He hasn’t even kicked in the overboost yet!
That C pillar behind Jim McD is freakin’ huge.
Hehehe… R56 making motoring kinder to pedestrians. 🙂
I had the chance to go examine and drive the R56, have to say though that the c piller isn’t actually bigger than the current to my eye.
Today on PBS, the Show; Motorweek had a review on the New 2007 Mini (both Coupe and S Cooper).

Thanks for posting that! It was interesting to hear what Jim and Jeff had to say about the R56.
Also, I second the laughter when the camera was dropped! Haha, only in a MINI 😉
