Well in general this campaign was just OK for me.
At least its not as bad as Krispin Porter with the new VW ads. The “Three V-dubs for under 17 Thousand” ad is so bad.
funny moments? yes, a few for sure. but the campaign was so “obvious” in its kitsch that i felt like perhaps they could have come up with something a bit more interesting for the launch of the r56 and this phase of the MINI’s lifespan. clearly they want the car to be perceived in a more masculine way, but was doing a webisode series of material which has been SO DONE BEFORE the way to convey that message? i mean starksy, hutch and knight rider? hello? cheesey!! MINI is anything BUT cheesey. i didn’t like the angle at all. i thought it was kind of juvenile and not at all what the MINI brand is about. i did however love the carwash scene in episode #1 though ; )
i would have much preferred to see something which heralded the brand’s heritage. the racing. the little guy beating the big guy. the handling. the design. all of the things that make the car great. h&c really conveyed none of that to me.
here’s to hoping that future campaigns for the MINI are taken a bit more seriously and not in such a cheeky way…
I don’t disagree with the folks who liked H&C, but I thought it was a little obvious. Much less premium and witty than the MINI actually is. I find myself ignoring it, whereas the original launch work was brilliant.

Bring back Crispin, Porter + Bogusky when they finally get dumped by Volkswagen.
Or just start producing some timeless ads along the lines of the Bobby stopping the singing Cooper driver or the British Bulldog checking out the tailpipe of the MCS.
So Hammer gets Coop, but where is the girl????
nice torque steer when he hits the overboost.
Awww, I’ll miss this show. 😉
Thank god this is over. How cheesy.
The girl? Turned states evidence, beat the rap and is living in cognito on a government payroll, of course.

Did you not watch the previous episode?
I really liked the cheese, especially when it’s done on purpose.
Good show, MINI!
“oh, crap”
That was really fun, loved every minute of it!

awwww man! Did they really have to kill the JAG that way? ;-(
Also, thanks for linking it via YouTube – none of the herky-jerky playback I always seemed to get on MINI’s site.
I really enjoyed the “Earl Scheib”
paint job on the Jag !
ok, i’m gonna get flogged for this…but…
i thought the h&c campaign was kind of weak.

Silverfox is on a roll. Minis are all about fun so I thought this was pefect. What’s with the snobby critiques?
