I’m on three hours of sleep and just finished a six hour stint on the Autobahn so this will be short. My first day in Germany went splendidly. My MINI was waiting for me at a BMW dealer just outside Munich complete with all the MINI United bling you could ask for. Oh and it also had navigation – sweet sweet English speaking navigation. I can’t tell you enough how essential it was today and it will be throughout my time here. But enough writing, here are the pics from today. And of course tomorrow; the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

And just how many miles did you cover in that 6 hrs? 😉 Great pics – love the half-timbered restaurant, all around a bit quaint. You’re a rollin’ advert, eh? Gather the swag as ye may.
You drove right by my place. Recognized the bridge in your photos. That is on A6 right by Hockenheim. I will stop by and say hi next weekend up in the Netherlands. Have fun at the ring!
ACHTUNG BABY! Enjoy your “flying” tomorrow. 😉
Very cool Gabe!! nice pics so far!
What’s the spec on your loaner? SS? LSD? How many miles/km – is it well broken in?
Keep the shiny side up as the Ring can bite ya fast or so I’m told by some who have driven it at full steam. Nice pics thanks.
Great pics, Gabe!
Have a fantastic time on the ‘Ring tomorrow! I’ll do some laps on the GT4 Nordeschliefe and wish I was there too. LOL!
>What’s the spec on your loaner? SS? LSD? How many miles/km – is it well broken in?
As with all MINI press cars I’ve seen, it has neither SS or LSD – essential options IMHO.
The car had 4km on the odometer when I picked it up.
4km! They threw you a brand new car. Not too shabby.
Ahh, no SS, LSD. Well its always good to hear your account of how well the base drivetrain/suspension performed, as you did at the dragon. Its only up from there. You’ll have to suffer through the 17″ run-flats on the ring.
Did you have fun on the ring today? Found a shot of you getting ready over at 8200rpm.com.
I’m not sure how to make the picture show so here is the link.

That’s awesome!! Looks like a great day, too.
Hope its not to crowded for you. My first trip there was opening weekend. It was crazy. Second time was first thing on a Sunday morning. That was much more enjoyable. I also hope MINI is paying for the laps. at (what is it now?)19 Euro a lap it can get expensive. Go to the gift shop down the road at the main race area (south loop) near the indoor go-karts and buy hats, jackets, bumper stickers. Its a once in a life time thing. Enjoy the “Green Hell” and Have fun.
PS I will be looking for you on the web cam at http://www.nuerburgring.de/
Sounds like fun, Gabe! Are you getting to site-see at all in-between all the motoring?
