Todd and I, after arriving in London, rushed out to Oxford in a Sparkling Silver R56 Cooper D. Once we arrived, we got the full tour. Of course, they let us record. Surprisingly, they also let us take pictures!
Nigel gave us our tour and he had answers to all of our questions and gave us more information than we knew what to do with! it was truly amazing to watch MINIs getting built and learn how it’s all done.
You can see all of the pictures in my flickr stream if you haven’t already.
It was a great experience and highly recommended if you ever get the chance! HUGE thank you to everyone involved in making this happen for us.

Todd, db: Great soundseeing tour in the factory. You boys did me proud! Well narrated, Todd. I could picture the cars being built, especially the guy at the end jumping around checking glass, etc. Your tour guide was exceptional. He has quite the British accent, what? (And the female sounded cute!!).
For my money, WRR and MF lived up to expectations for the entire MINI United event. Between the podcasts, interviews, photos and now the factory tour and other wrap-up stuff: Well done – terrific series.
Now, can you get me on the ‘A’ list for the next go-round?? Eh?

Nice job guys! I’ve been waiting for this one! It was worth the wait! The factory ambient sound makes for an awesome background sound track. 🙂
Kudos to your tour guides and to you guys for an instant classic WRR episode!
I was just there also and can share the excitment with you guys. The factory is amazing and I highly recomend going to any MIni fan.. oxford is quiet a nice town also.
Wow. That was amazing. Nice job!
For some reason I started feeling all emotional listening to that and looking at the pictures. Just knowing how much detail goes into the process of building my car really makes you feel proud to buy a mini.
Reading Robert Apon’s blog (American MINI currently touring Europe) I wish MINI would wise up and offer Euro delivery for USA customers at plant Oxford. I would buy my next MINI like this on a heartbeat!
Cool, very cool
My new R56 was supposed to start down the line today — maybe you saw it (how likely is that?) Great report!
Guys,
Thanks for the memories…………..went thru the Factory last July; and your photos brought it all back. What a great opportunity to see where our MINIS are “born”. Maybe you saw MINI#6……a Blk/Sparkling Silver MCSa which is a suprise for (oops, can’t say)
Charlie
Excellent report…I felt like I was right there with you (except may blindfolded). You guy have outdone yourselves w/ all the great coverage in and around your European trek. Thanks a million!!!!
Great job, guys!!
2 coolest things I did in Europe was the Tour and the Ring. I have you guys to thank for knowing about them both. It’s great that you also have those experiences to.
