MINI recently completed some initial testing of the final spec JCW Challenge Race Car at the Nurburgring Grand Prix track (not the Nordschleife) with some impressive results. Our sources tell us that the new R56 Challenge car was a full four seconds faster on the 5 km track than the previous R53 version.
While the engine is certainly helping in bringing those times down, the new aero work (specifically the rear wing and defuser) is also giving the car much more down-force. Our source went onto say that the drivers are quite pleased with the change as the previous wing had little or no effect on negative lift.

I can’t wait to see the new JCW work on the 2007 Cooper S. When will this be available for reservation/purchase?
The JCW Engine kit for the R56 should be available now at your local dealer. If not, then it will be very soon. More information can be found <a href="https://www.motoringfile.com/2007/08/31/mini-usa-official-jcw-kit-press-release/" rel="nofollow">here</a>
Is it possible to get this pics at high res?
Thanks!!
Why yes, <a href="https://www.motoringfile.com/2007/08/14/mini-releases-details-of-the-jcw-challenge-race-car/#more-6040" rel="nofollow">yes it is</a>

Tomorrow, Sept 11th, is the “ordering date” as posted in your first article on this topic. It appears this is for European interested buyers. I understand that MINIUSA is “working on” having these cars available through USA dealers.
Any information/confirmation if that will come to fruition by the time the ordering link is opened at mini.com ?
Where can one acquire those rims? Those are nice.
I like the graphics.
Love seeing more about the R56 race car, everything they do to test it, race it and generally work on it moves the factory JCW a small step closer.
Still would love to bring one of these to the States, just can’t justify it when the division it would end up in the car isn’t likely to be highly competitive. Would love to see enough people in the States buying this car to maybe make MiniUSA look over the concept with a spec race series. Lots of hope and desire, though I still doubt we will see anything like that anytime soon.
The rims are made by Borbet. You can find Borbet wheels at TireRack and other online stores, but I can’t find these. I really want these wheels for my 06 MCS. Does anyone know if MINI will offer them a la the R90 wheels from the previous challenge cars?
I’d pay an awful lot for these wheels in 18″
I want one of these as slightly altered as need be to make it street leagal. In Liquid Yellow/Blk Roof, mirrors, and strips =D
I knew the rims were Borbet, but they were nowhere to be found on their website, nor on TireRack. Shame, these are really attractive.
