One of our favorite upgrades to the R56 is the JCW Aerokit. And not only does it give the car a more aggressive look, but it’s actually somewhat functional in helping keep the car planted at very high speeds.
But it can also be a bit costly. So to give MotoringFile readers a helping DIY hand, we present you the official install guide PDF. While you’ll still need to order it and have it painted at a MINI dealer, the install is possible in the confines of your own garage.

Can this kit be ordered pre-painted? I got my R53 Aero Kit painted from the the factory in Hyper Blue, and the quality and match was, well, factory, which is to say, perfect. Especially the way they do the matte black texture-no one believes me that it is paint.
nope – it’s not available pre-painted.
However it does list part numbers for pre-painted kits.

Last I heard, they had decided to not sell them yet at this time. However I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually come to market as more R56s are on the market.
Have to agree Gabe I rank the aero kit as the best extra on the car followed by the JCW kit.
Will be interested if they offer a diffuser like the one on the Mini race car. This and adding front break ducts are the top to changes I would like to see. Woudn’t mind throwing the race wing onto the car either lol.
I have an 04 MC R50 Touring Pkg. Is it true the JCW aero kit can only be installed to a MCS R56? This is what I’ve been told by my local BMW Mini dealer, Woodlands, TX. But I did fing an article with a photo of a R50 with the JCW Aero Kit .. what gives?
Please help!~

See for your sefl … an R50 Red JCW Aero Kit
There was no JCW aero kit for the R50. The aero kit pictured was a “MINI” branded kit and was the only aero kit ever offered during the life cycle of the R50.
