Jim McDowell is a good guy, nothing to earth shattering in this interview but can say always happy to have somebody as committed to the Mini brand as he is talking about the brand.
I am really looking forward to meet Jim McDowell in person, either at MTTS ’08 or MINI UNITED ’09. He appears to be a very candid gentleman with a calm and pleasing demeanor.
Reading about his biography, he has made a long career with BMW. I believe before coming to MINI he was BMWUSA VP of sales for 12 years. The previous MINIUSA general manager, Jack Pitney went to BMW when Jim came to work for MINI.
I finally saw the Clubman in person yesterday at my dealer. Amazing. Love it! I don’t even care anymore that the clubdoor is only on one side. If that had been available in an R53 drivetrain/body style I’d be driving it. Even though I’m opposed to it philosophically, it actually makes me really excited to see what they do with the SAV.
Great video, thanks for posting it. I haven’t seen one in person yet but it’s looking better every time I see a story in the news about it. Makes me wonder what I would’ve done if I could’ve waited another year to buy mine.
Good interview, but the interviewer’s voice pitch is a little annoying.
I like that the MINI dude points out that the car is not a reaction but a step forward.
