We have been getting quite a lot of questions about MTTS LA. MINI has updated the website, once again, with all of the details.
You are probably going to want the hotel information so you know where everyone will be staying. There is also the Rise & Shine Owners Rally that we know you want to go to. And for you sure you aren’t going to want to miss the Meet and Greet at Universal City Walk.
All the info you could need for LA is up and posted over at the MTTS blog. And there is a bit more besides this.
Don’t forget, if you have any questions about Chicago or LA, leave them here. We’ve talked Gina into answering all of your MTTS questions very soon.
Keep an eye on the MTTS Section at MF for all of our past and future coverage of the events.
Why not a “Rise and Shine” run from let’s say, oh I don’t know, hum, let’s see do we have any tracks out here in SoCal????…. Oh yeah, that little place, what’s it called….. California Speedway?!
Willow Springs is a tad far.
BAH!!!!!!!!!!!
ALSO…. so no Rauno, OK. How about Paddy or Mike Cooper? I’m hoping this is better than it looks so far, cuz so far it’s kinda bleak.
So breakfast in the parking lot of a race track is somehow better than breakfast at UCLA? The point of the morning at MTTS is to gather up, get some breakfast and have a nice drive to the event because sometimes it’s not about the destination but the journey.
Fun is what you make of it. I just don’t get the negativity. The MTTS events are a chance to get together and have some fun meeting other MINI owners, checking out other cars and chilling for a couple of days. If you get the chance to take in some good music, get a free massage (courtesy of Playboy in LA), drive the new JCW MINI on an autocross course, and about a dozen other things on the schedule I say it’s worth every penny of the $20 donation to charity.
RB – I hope your comments were tongue-in-cheek because if they weren’t they sound a bit puerile.
playboy? I’m in!
The Friday night gig at CityWalk ought to be a blast! I’ve always wanted to try Jillian’s but have been outvoted by whatever group I’ve been with at the time. It looks like a cool location, kind of like a Dave & Buster’s.
Hey, they could’ve had this at the OC Zoo and I’d still have a good time. Like Todd says, it’s about getting together with MINI people and checking out the rides.
As for noteworthy folks from the MINI Community, I hear WhiteRoof Radio might be there. 🙂
Sounds like fun! I have to ditch a wedding to be part of this, but hey…how many times may I have a chance to do something like this? With the current steady increase of divorce rates, most likely I’ll get a chance to attend her next marriage soon 🙂
By the way, the description of the events may trigger an R rating:
“Be sure to thank our friends at Playboy magazine for the relaxation session.”
“…your MINI can get a nice relaxing rub down with a very clean, happy ending.”
“So breakfast in the parking lot of a racetrack is somehow better than breakfast at UCLA?”
Yes, Any day!
Todd you’re calling me childish because I was hoping for something better? You saying that my saying it’s better to have breakfast in the parking lot of a racetrack is somehow childish on my part??? How so?
Yeah it’s all about meeting up with friends, meeting new ones and enjoying the day but I was hoping that it would be more.
“Oh Boy, let’s meet up in some school parking lot instead of a nice race facility and maybe take a lap or 2… My god what was I thinking?” Let me sneak quietly into the mist of shame.
But then I like eggs… so rave on.
Jillian’s?? Why not Saddle Ranch Chop House? 🙂
Wow. I should have waited for these comments before plunking down my 20 bucks to charity and committing to drive 800 miles for such a lousy gathering.
Maybe I set my expectations too low. I thought I would be headed to the Southland to enjoy the company of other Mini owners, gaze at all the cars and have a little fun and excitement.
That’s still what I plan to find.
Meh. I have been to many MINI training events and they always know how to put on a party. I wouldn’t worry about the Rise and Shine not being any fun. Personally, seeing a bazillion MINI’s on the road together is always a blast, I don’t care what parking lot we start out in.
Peace man, you’ll have fun as will I.
I love all this “where ever we get together we’ll be happy fun loving smiley face MINI folk” talk. My point was only this… why couldn’t it be someplace kool? But I guess if you mess with WR you’re in trouble and if you suggest something other than what the MINI gods have chosen you’re messing with MINI Nirvana… Sorry, I’ll curtail my independent thought, for now.
“Be sure to thank our friends at Playboy magazine for the relaxation session.â€
What no love for Chicago….
This almost makes me want to drive to Crazy Calli.
We know MINIUSA and Playboy had a joint venture since the sex in a MINI avert. and the MINI cooper centerfold…for those who can think back to the start of MINI in the USA. Classics.
Gina does this include “Girls Next Door”?
I have a question regarding the Friday night meet and greet – I plan on taking the Red Line over to CityWalk. What do I need to show to get in as a “mini owner”? Obviously I’ll have my ticket printed out from the pre-registration, but is that it? I won’t have my Mini with me! 🙁
– Al
AllenL -bring your MINI key. That will get you in.
I’m not from MINIUSA but I’m guessing the reason for Jillians is because the venue is bigger (Saddle Ranch is big by West Hollywood club standards, but small by general venue standards) and there is a LOT more self-parking at Universal Studios parking structures. I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want to do is have valet service where there a whole ton of identical looking cars!
Todd, thanks, that should have been obvious! 🙂 I’ll bring both my ticket and my key just to be safe!
Oh, and does anyone know how we’re going to handle the test drives at the Rose Bowl? Will there be a sign up sheet with appointment times? I’m wondering if there will really be enough time on the track for everyone who shows up. Has MINIUSA released the attendance estimates yet?
