For all those waiting to see pricing for the 2009 model year, wait no longer. First off all models will increase $750 but will now include dynamic stability control. And as reported a few months back the package structures have changed slightly as well. But one package related item to note is that the sport package will now include not only DSC but DTC – dynamic traction control – the same technology that replaces LSD on the John Cooper Works MINI.
Now start configurating….
Sorry, but MINI Canada http://www.mini.ca has a much cooler web site than MINI USA ever had.
All 2008 US production is spoken for! Hence why the 2009 configurator has shown up this early in the year.
I believe that DTC is a subfunction of DSC allowing one to have a little more fun until the nanny cuts in, this would be in line with current 3 series BMWs.
On the JCW, is it not the EDLC that replaces the mechanical LSD?
Sirius radio with the lifetime subscription is gone. Now it’s Sirius with one year of service for $500.
Sirius OEM still too expensive. Only plus is the factory integration. I am waiting for XM and Sirius to seal their merger. For now I am holding on getting satellite radio for my MINIs until that announcement is made.

Sport Package:(Available as of December 2008) Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), xenon headlamps with powerwash, bonnet stripes, white turn signals, and your choice of 17-inch aluminum alloy Crown-Spoke or Web-Spoke wheels

This might already be common knowledge, but there are a few things in there that catch my interest. Xenons are back and white turn signals are included. About the wheels, does this mean you can choose Web-Spoke wheels as a no cost option or will they still be extra $$$?
What’s being built for the convertibles? The picture shows R52 shape, but you can’t get them any more can you?
The R52 is a goner for 2009. The R57 is supposed to start production next spring. So basically from here until then, all you will see are leftover 2008 cabrios in dealer lots if there are any left.
Something is wrong on the configurator; it does not show of what was saved 🙁
I love the clubman roof rails, but this is a performance/handling modification? We need attachments for the rails as well. I’d love to get some more info on this and the DTC vs. LSD. Thanks Motoringfile.
I built a stripped JCW Clubman and it was $32k! A car built as I would like it, including JCW suspension and Aero kit, would be $40k!! That is just obscene.
Did anyone else notice that the “full feature list” at the top of the configurator now includes bullet wheels along with web and crown options for the sport package on the 2009 Cooper S?

First off all models will increase $750 but will now include dynamic stability control.

Looks like the Cooper S went up $750 but the Cooper only $500 and both Clubman models only $250.

Sorry, but MINI Canada http://www.mini.ca has a much cooler web site than MINI USA ever had.
Not the configurator, which is a stripped down version of the already very basic Euro configurator. Otherwise, MINI Canada has posted some fun creative things on their website over the years.
Not a big R56 fan, however, I have to laugh when I recall people on this site claiming that R56 inventories were piling up at dealerships. Seems the fatties sold just fine. Just try to get one right now. They’re all sold.

Does anyone know when this generation Mini is supposed to get a refresh? I’m a bit reluctant to get a 2009 model, and have a better interior come out a few months after… or even worse, a GP variant..
look under recent featured stores.
Does anyone remember when the 2008 Clubman was first available to order? It seems like it was only for about 5-6 months. I just took delivery of my 2008 Clubman on June 21st after ordering it on April 13th, which I thought was fairly quick compared to some. Anyway, I just reconfigured it and MINIAC is correct; the overall price went up $250 including all the same options. I noticed; however, that they changed the Premium Package to now include the multifunction sport wheel (which was a $250 option) instead of the 10 speaker stereo system (which is now a $500 option).
Does anyone know if the DSC and DTC from the sport will eventually eliminate the LSD option, like it does on teh JCW?!?
Did anyone have trouble with the configurator? I went to the MiniUSA website to launch the configurator and the site only references 2008 Minis … not 2009. Did I miss something?
Hey Gabe, I’m with Jeff. Any word from Mini on the possibility of the LSD being dropped. I really want the LSD on my car and not the easy money for mini DTC
