“Fast, fun and hard to find” That was Business Week’s conclusion after testing the 2008 Clubman. Here’s an excerpt:
>Is it worth the wait? In a word, yes. There’s no other model that combines the Mini Cooper’s sportiness, low price, and great mileage. And the model I’d be signing up for is the new Mini Cooper Clubman, a 9.4-inch-longer and roomier version of the car. With a stick shift, the base Clubman is rated to get a phenomenal 37 miles per gallon on the highway and 28 in the city, for an average of 32.

One of the best and most accurate reviews I’ve read about the Clubman. One mistake was his claim that the sport button “stiffens the suspension”; as far as I can tell from reading the Manual and my experience with the automatic, it only affects the shifting points and steering response. Also even though I’ve only had my MCc since June 21, I think the quality is really top notch.
I just did my first road trip from San Francisco to the central Oregon coast and found it to be the most comfortable and responsive car I’ve ever owned. It very easily cruises at 85, and even at 100 it was smooth and solid with no vibrations or any shakiness. I bought it for the city, but it definitely is a great road car.
I was really surprised when I just got my new CA title, and under “model or type of car” it says “SW”; which must mean they classify the Clubman as a “station wagon”! Must be because it has “barn doors” instead of a hatch?
