This time via Adrants.com, how about the new Cabrio in glorious 3D?
>This print ad — which appeared in German car magazines last Friday — is more than ink on paper. It’s a magical holding tray for your own teeny-tiny Mini Cabrio.
>See how it works. To try it, print the ad out, visit this site and install the 3D plugin. Webcam at the ready? Good. Look at the screen. YOU’RE HOLDING A WEE INVISIBLE CAR!
From what I can tell, it does look like you are going to need Internet Explorer 6 or better on Windows XP or Vista. And it might be little helpful is your German isn’t too rusy. If anyone has done this, let us know what you think below!

I’d be surprised if it only works with IE. There are similar ads that do the same thing on a Mac or PC with most modern browsers.
That was a guess. My German is a bit rusty but at the bottom of the page it says this.
>Systemvorraussetzungen:
>Internet Explorer 6 oder höher, Windows Vista / XP (SP 2), Neueste Videotreiber installiert, 2 GHz CPU (Dual Core empfohlen), 512 MB RAM, Grafikkarte mit mind. 256 MB Speicher, USB-Webcam (mind. 640×480 Pixel)
That is awesome!!
Hokey
That is pretty seriously cool.
only runs in ie on windows
it does work: [see screengrab](<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/timmee/3100135123/" rel="nofollow ugc">http://www.flickr.com/photos/timmee/3100135123/</a>)
The colours are funky because I’m running windows on parallels and the built-in iSight on my MBP
Maybe someone can scan in the ad so we can print it out and try it ourselves?
Well..those of us lucky enough to have a web cam.
Josh the pdf is [here](<a href="http://mini-cabrio.ar-live.de/res/anzeige.pdf" rel="nofollow ugc">http://mini-cabrio.ar-live.de/res/anzeige.pdf</a>)
That’s very cool.
Enough hipe, how about updating the configurator??
We’re currently trying it on my manager’s Mac, but it’s running Windows XP and IE. We’ve installed the software fine and printed it out but it’s taking FOREVER to load… Perhaps it’s not working? Maybe it needs a true PC to work? I’ll update on this later and try it on my PC this evening. fingers crossed
Couldn’t get it to work on our Mac.
My son was able to lift the car off the surface of the paper with his hand, and was able to flip the car upside down. Any other cool tricks? Is there another use for this software?
Anybody get this to work with Safari?
Plugin only works on ie. Hold. The printout still in front of the webcam. You’ll know the plugin has recognised the page when the windows hourglass appears. Another 30 seconds later the render will appear. Keep the page flat to manipulate the image.
Mini does it yet again. Very clever.
Let’s hope they will soon come out with a Mac version.
As I have often noted, more Mini owners are also Mac owners than the Mac % in the general population. (Reason?…they are both top of the line, innovative products).
