In a surprise move BMW will be unveiling the MINI Speedster/Coupe concept (via the web) before it makes its public debut at the Frankfurt IAA motorshow. Because Frankfurt will be such a massive show for BMW (the most debuts ever planned for a single show) BMW has pushed out the virtual debut of the car by a few weeks. However keep in mind that the speedster will truly be a concept vehicle much like the Traveler from 2006 and the MINI Crossover from 2007.
We’ve also been told be a couple sources to expect an official unveiling of the Countryman R60 crossover over the web later this week as well. If the official go-ahead is given, look for all the images and specifications right here on MF the second we’re allow to show them.
So be sure to check MF early and often over this week.

Cant wait to see this 🙂 actually more interested in the coupe. Would be awesome if they put the proposed Z2 twin turbo 250hp motor in it, and kept the weight down under 2400. I might just have to give up my 370Z for something like that 🙂 Now that I’m use to a sub 5 sec 0-60 car, Mini is going to have to kick it up a notch.
I took out my R56 JCW today, and although it is much easier to drive then the 370z, once your use to that power, it’s hard to go back. Still love my Mini though. just wish they could have a car that would compete in the EV0, STI, 135i range. I think a 2200lb car with 230hp would do the trick 🙂 come on Broadspeed!!!!!

Can’t wait!

Previous concept to production timelines would suggest the Speedster probably seeing the light of day as a MY2012 item then. eh?

Darn, I really can’t wait…

me too, I might be interested in replacing my current R53 though most likely not gonna do that but depends on the looks!

Looking forward to a suitable replacement to my aging del Sol VTEC. Since Honda doesn’t want to make one, I’m glad to see MINI will.

If the official go-ahead is given, look for all the images and specifications right here on MF the second we’re allow to show them.

That means you guys have already seen it! C’mon, give us a first impression.

Here is to Mini knocking this one out of the park, finally a chance to entice the performance oriented drivers once again. Should be very interesting to see the design language of this concept car.

Gabe any idea if we are going to see the coupe version or the droptop? I would assume the coupe as from what you have said its going to be the first to production.

I will believe it when I see it.

I`m excited to see this!

Awe great…now im not gonna be able to sleep until this drops!!!

Thanks Guys…gonna be an insomniac for the next few days…might as well car-jack a Red Bull MINI so i’ve got something to drink…

A

if its a concept then its gonna just be a styling exercise, right? Everybody wound up on specs, hp, etc, I’m thinking there won’t be any content there, so what’s with all the expectations?

…waiting. Impatiently….

This will a great model.

You know I want one.

@Lavardera- Not going to be a styling exercise. This is going to be like many of the BMW “Concepts” in near production form, the wheels more than likely will not make it to production and a few other bits but for the most part this is the car.

Note that we have changed the title from “Speedster” to “MINI Concept”

I am mostly looking forward to see the design language of Mini translated to a speedster. Of course I would really love to see a full set of specs it would be nice but some general stats would be cool. Just really hoping Mini doesn’t drop the ball on making a stellar little performance car.

Exciting couple of weeks for MINI fans… I’m also looking forward to seeing the reveal.

Please don’t be “too puffy”, please don’t be “too puffy”! [Fingers crossed that the front end of the Concept does not look too puffy] :)

But still – a concept car they don’t reveal specs on the engine, the suspension, the interior won’t be production, and all the other stuff everybody gets there panties in a knot about.

Were there ever any engine or suspension specs on the Crossman concept? Were there even any dimensions? People here scrambled about trying to figure out how big or small it was.

If you build it, WE will come!!!!!!!
