The MINI Rolls Royce edition that we exclusively scooped last summer has reportedly been green lit according to Autocar:
>Highly placed sources at BMW have told Autocar that the cars will “totally individual” and the project is seeking to create “niche vehicles” for customers.
Our sources are telling us that the package will be an entirely bespoke limited edition model including custom dash, headliner and other signature items. The exterior will be finished in Ming Blue (seen above in these prototype images and here) first used by Rolls in 1992 on a special 25th anniversary Rolls-Royce Corniche IV of which only 25 were produced. These special edition MINIs will be extremely limited and, while we can’t currently confirm, the special edition MINI is expected to cost in excess of $50,000. Not bad, if you ask us, considering the exclusivity and high quality craftsmanship that Rolls Royce is known for.
Keep in mind that the car above was simply a design exercise and the final product will likely look quite a bit different.

That center console all Rolls Royced up makes me sad sad sad.

It comes with a year supply of Grey Poupon and a language CD “How To Speak Etonian”

Its a strange pairing to say the least…however because BMW owns both brands they can come up with all sorts of reasons TO do something like this…I love the colour…I wish it was an inline colour…Whether or not people will shell out the coin for such an obnoxious idea will be only reflected in the number they sell. What I don’t understand: they push back the release date for the Countryman due to economic reasoning (which I can understand), yet they green light this trim level…cuz lets face it, its all trim, they will not be introducing anything new with this model. I can appreciate the effort, but does the MINI Roller really matter???

It’s not that far fetched considering the recent Ferrari 695 Tributo 500 and the Aston Martin Cygnet project.

Interesting that the my MINI dealer is also the Rolls Royce dealer here. It was interesting to see MINIs (the smallest) and Rolls-Royce (the biggest) vehicles in the same service lot or showroom together. I look forward to seeing a Rolls-Royce MINI in the same dealership ; )

Blah, blah blah… Bad idea! Overpriced! Ridiculous!!

This is beyond bad. If I were a RR owner I’d be pissed. Cheap, lacks taste…all around awful. Right up there with sticking a Ferrari badge on a Fiat…oh wait…didn’t they just do that? Talk about brand dilution

I like the idea marrying the 2 english BMW brands together. And I could be wrong, but I believe it’s a tradition that started with the original MINI.

I think it sounds cool. With the heritage of both MINI and RR, I think it’s a cool idea for a special edition. That’s just me anyways.

I would much rather see a “Ferrarized” mini.

I love it. I’d buy it. If it’s all hand-made like a Rolls, then $50,000 is a bargan! It would make a great spare for someone with a Silver Ghost.
