MINI has officially released the first teaser video of the R60 crossover. While the Beachcomber gave away many of the details, this video gives you a look at the stance ad the general shape of the car with the doors intact. Look for more of these videos to appear before an official online launch in the coming weeks.

Those damned swirlies! That’s just mean..and very clever :)

Just out of curiosity, why do they paint the cars with that pattern?

that’s the corporate humor we know and love!

Cool stuff.

Not paint but large format printed vinyl sheets.

@Andrew, the pattern throws an optical monkey wrench into the works. It makes it more difficult to discern the surfacing and details of the car.

I’m looking forward to finally seeing the production version sans camo though!

Is this the big news we were expecting to see today, or can we still expect to see something relating to the 2011 R56 refresh?

Yes this is the big news.

I like the shape and the relative size seems interesting. Gotta love BMW’s classic camo though.

Our next family car???

hmm. Looks like a MINI!

Thanks MINI
Not only am I severly aflicted with the curiosity bug…but now I gotta battle a Migrane All Day!!!!

I’m gonna go watch a video of the Twins now…

So, nothing new.

Gabe, some general questions about these types of videos… I see these marketing videos posted on MotoringFile but for me personally, most of them if I didn’t see them here, I would never have seen them at all. Who is the intended audience for these videos and how do they target them? I’m just perplexed about how the marketing mechanics is supposed to work, because they certainly don’t reach me except for MotoringFile.

They rely on sites like MF (most MF for the dedicated MINI audience) to get these videos out. Often we are tipped off a couple days or hours ahead of time so we can get it ready to post at a pre-defined time.

@ rkw,

You pose a very good question. I can say that MINI is very well aware (obviously) of Motorinfile’s presence as well as the traffic that comes through here. As mentioned elsewhere MINI has a very loyal following amongst enthusiast and owners many of which often visit MF. So the reason many of these videos show up here makes very good and clear marketing sense.

When
is
the
wrap
coming
off???

“When is the wrap coming off???”

February 7. And then World Premiere @ Geneva.

We aren’t always allowed to tell you things like that. But Scott can :)

Clever as hell… making for a GREAT ad spot to the MINI and general car enthusiast community. Nice work!

Wow, that made my eyes go googly! Also, is that Eric Bana?!?! It sure does look like him!

No. No famous people are used except somebody hired from a Berlin modelling studio.

People I think are going to be pleasantly surprised when they see this car. I have seen comments regarding the car is too far for the brand and does not fit within the concept of MINI, but wait and see.

The car looks perfectly respondant in Hot Chocolate with 5 spoked wheels actually taken from the Beachcomber concept but with much smaller tyres of course.

Creative one there MINI, good job, thought it needed a couple of swirly painted bugs but still great.

Still think that a SUV has not point ever being labeled a MINI but then again Sir Issigonis is already dead so at least the can park this likely 3k MINI on his grave to finalize turning their back on every thing he stood for.

Those jerks! :)

Looks like a MINI. If the “Crossover is going to sit on low profile tires and maintain a performance car stance, I ask, “what’s the point”? 4 doors?? With no added passenger-hauling ability, this is a bust.

I am exhausted with the mind numbing camo. Just not amused.

If this is what we have been waiting for, AND we only get 4 seats, I’ll pass. This would have been better off as a factory rally car project. More economical for MINI, and less painful for hopefuls like myself and purists who detest the idea of an SUV.

Bring on the Beachcomber, in all its glory, and I will source a bench seat myself.

Seriously. Only FOUR seats?

I may have to compromise….

Turbo 4 w/valvetronic & direct injection, ALL4 and therefore no torque steer, in BRG w/Tan leather. But only 4 seats!!! Oh MINI!

Aftermarket 5-seat retrofit possible….?

From what I can see…

…,”me likey!”

Keep up the good work MINI(I made have found a replacement for,”Sade”).
