While we finish off a few reviews from the recent MINI USA 2011 press launch, we thought we’d give you a sneak look at video shot around the launch area of the cars we tested. Some thoughts from the video… yes Pure Red is not Chili Red. Yes we also love the Bright White seen on the MCS with ALL4. No we don’t like the way 17″ wheels look on that Cooper Countryman either.

Did they have any Jukes on hand that you could drive back to back with the Countrymen?

(Kidding.)

WOW, love it. The lighting in the cabin is really nice. Love the S model. The screen in the speedo looks really quick and smooth UI.

For pictures of the rear bench seat go to http://www.autocar.co.uk and select Road Tests and then Cooper D Countryman. There are 6 interior shots.

this car’s expression, especially the S, looks like it has stomach cramps… (which it does).

Any indication from MINI USA on when the Countryman will show up on the configuration tool?

@Nick, thanks for that. Confirmed my hunch: If the C’s bench was anything like my R50’s Lounge Leather rear seat, then it was going to be a winner.

Thanks Nick for the link on the bench seat.

Lol nice faux offroad driving, my GP was on tougher surfaces during MTTS this year. Could be my imagination but a surprising amount of body roll.

I want to take a test drive – This might just be my next MINI.

Thanks Nick for the link…to date, the overall sense I get from most road test reviews of the Countryman has been far from stellar–and that’s something I’m not used to when reading about any Mini vehicle. I’ve been anticipating the launch of the Countyman with great impatience hopeful that this vehicle can join my R53. Maybe hoping for a Mini that can provide sport and utility (and 4WD) simultaneously is too big a wish, or maybe I will just have to wait longer for a Countryman that will offer JCW options. I’ll know by January when I’ll finally get to drive one.

Gabe, what’s wrong aesthetically with the 17″ wheels?

Did any of the Countryman models at the event have the sports suspension? What is the difference in ride height, and how does it look with the 17″ wheels?

“Rear cabin is surprisingly roomy with the 60/40 split seats slid all the way back”

sounds like a winner

I have grown to like the Countryman and look forward to a test drive at the local dealer, but the BIG SCARY train track shots made me laugh out loud… 🙂 Ditto the UNPAVED (but very well packed) tertiary dirt road… I have torn up roads like that in my miata – intentionally sideways around the corners (thanks to driftastic RWD) – and it has close to only 4″ of ground clearance! :)
