Dunno, unless by mean you mean ugly! I really don’t like the extreme red/black, and the overall effect just makes the headlights look even worse.
It’s great that a JCW Countryman has come, but the styling of this one is not for me.

Jeep Rubicon mean and THIS is average? No offense but I didn’t think guys drove Rubicon’s anymore yet MINI’s get saddled with the ‘chicks car’ mantra. Regardless, I’m sure the stock Rubicon handles just as good as the stock Countryman. Oh, and hmmm, Dakar and the WRC would beg to differ in your opinion.

Oh, ok, a stock Rubicon Vs a WRC. Apples and oranges. I could put a Kia Soul on a COMPLETELY different chassis ect and be bad ass. Take a stock Rubicon and a JCW CM to the Rubicon trail and lets see who makes it. Hell, lets take that POS JCW CM through a ditch and see who gets stuck. Don’t be mad, Jeep Rubicon is the BEST offroad vehicle you can buy, the JCW is mediocre with A LOT of comp that can beat it……..

Terrible video. There wasn’t any decent sense of speed and ending is just stupid. Style over content. If they’d shown him actually launching that would be great but as it was… meh.

The video is great. Wish more MINI videos were like this. I would just have done away w/ the ending bit.

The JCW Countryman is great. Look, I snicker at CMs. I have a ClubMan and tell everyone that that’s as big as you need, but the CM allows more people to buy and be into MINIs, great. I’m so glad MINI decided to let CM play the full-on JCW game. I really hope a friend of mine gets this soon.

Not the most stellar attempt of advertising, not horrible but give it a 60% for the effort. Looks like a black R60 with a red roof. Not getting this “mean” looking but then again this crossover is not aimed at me so maybe its “mean” looking to the prospective buyers.

They should have gone for a more “rally” look to the shooting of the video. Ripping through some back country roads, etc. Like the WRC car vids you see on youtube! Love the car though, red roof and all!

All this 4-door Maxi coverage lately. I remember when Minis were mini. sigh Still waiting for my 2-seater electric Mini – that will be something worth reporting on. Not these bloated hulk Minis that drink petrol like it was 1978. Electric or bust!

There was recent talk about MINI working to redevelop the JCW sub brand to make it more ///M like. Yet as far as I am concerned this is yet another so/so “performance” package with a JCW logo. I keep waiting with baited breath for JCW to stand up and clearly separate itself .from its cheaper siblings. I have hope that later this year with the introduction of another JCW model we will finally see JCW stand up and become something much more complete as a Unique road offering. As a example of these apparent lack of detail I would point out my JCW Coupe that came with a suspension that is completely lacking for a self proclaimed sport car. Even worse many months after it went on sale there is still not a JCW suspension for it. I sincerely hope that someday JCW will stand for something other than a semi performance cash cow.

I am in the same opinion as you. When MINI bought out JCW to take things in house it was to make it more like ///M, even with Dr. Kay at the helm again after his stint at BMW M GmbH you would think JCW would have a little more meat to go with the potatoes… I am not sure what the cause is.

I stopped caring about the Countryman after I drove an S. But I do like the audio track in this commercial – then again, I watched it with Metalocalypse in the background. :)

When they announced the JCW CM i was like 😀 Schwing!

But with what we saw this week I’m like 😐 Meh…

I really had high hopes for this and am now reconsidering my purchase, rather disappointed with the announced figures. This sucks alot because Mini is the kind of strong brand that we’ve come to love and want to be part of as they over deliver on their promises. I hope this isn’t the first sign of a forgotten promise.

You got that right!!

Dunno, unless by mean you mean ugly! I really don’t like the extreme red/black, and the overall effect just makes the headlights look even worse.
It’s great that a JCW Countryman has come, but the styling of this one is not for me.

I don’t mean ugly. I mean mean, as in bad. I mean it looks great.

My Jeep Rubicon looks mean (and is), this thing looks average (and is)……….

Jeep Ribicon… Well personally I think it sucks but if ya like it great.

Your mean-gauge is off by 10 points (and it goes from 0-10).

I think the CM is best compared to the Nissan Juke. Both are ugly and both aren’t worth a crap…….

Sure it does… lol!

Terrible video. There wasn’t any decent sense of speed and ending is just stupid. Style over content. If they’d shown him actually launching that would be great but as it was… meh.

“Mean” as in “ludicrous” with its little red cap?

Sorry, looks like a turd.

Thank you for your apology! It’s been noted!

If you put lipstick on a pig, guess what?

It is still a pig!

Sorry, looks like a turd.

Surprised at the comments…

Still don’t like those headlights.

Video was OK, even the ending, but you don’t get a sense of what this thing can do. Too many closeups.

I agree. I can’t defend this but I will always defend and be proud of my 2 hatch…….Though electric isn’t a must for me…yet….

I like the red roof and I do think this is rather bad ass looking though not a fan of this MINI.

“Say what you like about the power or the rather odd end to the video.”

The power is insufficient.
The video has a rather odd ending.
