Funny letter, but not sure how offering to install what the customer paid for “free of charge” with an added delay was really the right response by MINI. At least they could have offered up some token offering like an optional JCW accessory for free while the car was in being retrofitted.

Agreed. Great letter but installing them for free is the given. Going above and beyond with here is for sure a nice loaner and another free goody should be the true response.

MINI will pay the dealer for parts and labor for the installation, so it’s not as though it’s just a given. Have to remember that the dealer is a completely separate company from MINI USA. And if I know MINI USA, there were other “extra mile” steps taken that aren’t mentioned in the letter. That’s how they tend to roll.

Sort of doubt it. My mini came without its multi-function steering wheel thanks to a glitch in the ordering software. They ordered it, swapped it out for me, no charge, but no extras or goodies either.

You could blame the dealer but, it was Mini/BMWs fault. The dealer had to check off cruise control and multifunction steering wheel in order to get the correct build. My salesman forgot one or the other and they built it without. The software lacked error checking – the two check boxes should have been linked. And the real error was the factory, seeing one of the two checked did not question what the intention was and built it wrong.

Yes, you could argue that point… You are the exception to the rule then. As I know it anyways. Anytime I have known or heard about MINI making a mistake, they go all quirky and apologetic and toss in extras…

MINI USA that is… let’s not talk about MIN CANADA… :|

Would that not be a dealer ordering issue, not a MINI USA issue?
