With a car as expressive as the MINI, exterior and interior colors and trim are a big deal. So it’s with plenty of anticipation that we can finally reveal the full color line up (inside and out) of the 2014 F56 MINI.
Early this year we gave you a sneak peak at the new colors and options on tap for the 2014 MINI. At the time we could only confirm the two new colors on tap for 2014. Now we can give you the full picture.
To start with lets look at the exterior of Cooper S (US Spec):
– White Silver Metallic
– Midnight Black
– British Racing Green II
– Ice Chocolate Metallic (New)
– Thunder Grey (Previously GP exclusive)
– Deep Blue
– Volcanic Orange (New)
– Blazing Red Metallic (Carried over from the Countryman & Paceman)
– Pepper White
Inside things dark but mostly new for the Cooper S:
– Diamond Carbon Blk/Cloth & Leather
– Diamond Satellite Grey Cloth & Leahter
– Carbon Black Leatherette
– Black Pearl Cloth/Leatherette
– Leather Cross Punch Carbon
– Cross Punch Dark Truffle
– Leather Lounge Satellite Grey
The 2014 MINI will debut in Oxford on November 18th with a US on-sale date of late March. For a full rundown on options and other details go back in time to our full F56 expose from earlier in the year. And keep checking back daily for any updates as we get them.
All look good right? Perhaps but what’s on the list is as interesting as what’s not. And the biggest name not on the list with Chili Red. CR has been with MINI fans since the beginning as a color that defines the brand.
Will it come back? Our hunch is that MINI has made CR something of a JCW specific color and that it will come back but only when the F56 JCW launches in 18 months to two years.

No Chili Red? I don’t think they would do something like that. Just like the spy photos, I will have to wait for it to come out to believe it.
Also doesn’t look like the Recaros are coming back unless they changed the upholstery color.

Regarding CR – believe it based on what I’m seeing and hearing. Regarding Recaros – they will later in the life cycle most likely.

Not having CR across all models is a BIG mistake, I hope there’ll be a big enough outcry that they’ll be forced to reconsider.

JCW F56

No Chili Red? Wonder when they will nix the white roof?

Among my favorites have always been the lighter blues – Kite Blue, Laser Blue, Oxygen Blue – but they don’t seem to stick around much lately… Surprised that Chili Red is gone as well

Add Electric Blue to that list…

Will the Justa Cooper have the same colors or different ones?
Not sure I understand the dual zone climate control in a car that small.

Lots of people actually ask if the Auto Climate is dual zone or not. I agree that it is not needed, but is something driven by consumer demand (VW has had dual zone from the MKV around 2006). Another feature to keep up with the times!

What they need is more granular temperature control. Being able to only adjust between 20DegC and 21DegC is surprisingly annoying when driving with the windows/roof panel closed. Where are the 1/2 degree increments on the R56?

No need for dual zone climate… my wife usually has both dash vents closed and turns on the heated seats if I have the A/C on too high ;-)

Any changes to roof colors?
Also, BOOO! to no CR and BOOO! to not leaving Thunder Blue exclusive to GPs.

Thunder Grey from GP2!? that’s weird and it will ruin the GP2 owners’ feeling!

I don’t think you can get Thunder Grey on any of the models except the GP II. I checked the 2014 configurator and i is not there. I believe they showed Thunder Grey for completeness (on one site i saw a note next to Thunder Grey saying “from the GP II”

http://www.bimmertoday.de has some interior pics with what sure looks like could be the satellite grey lounge seats.

Yes that is correct. Additionally the thing to note in that photo is the leg support in the lounge seating.

At last! I feel that this was a much needed feature on the MINI

Iced Chocolate Metallic has been available for a while now. It’s like a darker, duller Hot Chocolate.

“when the F56 JCW launches in 18 months to two years.”

Does that mean that there will be no JCW models available at all until then? Not sure how to take that statement.

There won’t be a JCW Hardtop Hatch in that time period. Our information is that the carryover cars from this generation (coupe, roadster, countryman, paceman, etc.) will still have current power plants available, including JCW. If that changes, we’ll be sure to let everybody know.

Sounds good to me… my JCW will be almost 4 years old by then and maybe I’ll have the itch to swap! And that will give MINI some time to work out the new model glitches.

Concerning all other current models outside the F56 to continue with the current the 1.6L power plants while the new F56 has the more efficient & probably more powerful 1.5L 3 cyl & 2.0L 4 cyl doesn’t sound good.

So the smallest, lightest F56 will have more power than the largest, heaviest Countryman & Paceman until they eventually get their complete makeover some years down the road. Interesting & not in a good way!!

Likewise with all the other smaller models, to continue with the current Prince engine which will be less efficient & likely, less power than the 2 new engines until their makeovers arrive. Something wrong with this picture!
Alsow

Some boring interior colors there, I hope they add more to spice things up a little. I also hope they add a no-cost option for cloth seats.

I wish they would do a proper Blue and leave it, a decent
Yellow and a bright Orange.
Always the colours look washed out over thought trying to be smart. BMW do you
ask the customers or Fans????? Also why not give us what we have been asking
for ages a proper dare I say it Audi pure White!!!!!

chili Red has been around since 2001. I had 2 R53’s in this color and loved it. Greta durability and shine under the brutal Florida sun.

But time for a change. I’d like to see other more “fun” reds make debut in the F56.

Not having Chili Red is almost un-MINI! And even more of a mistake to offer thunder Grey on a non JCW GP2!

Volcanic Orange? I am hoping for more of a Burnt Orange Metalic from the Honda Fit. LOVE that color

does anyone know what deep blue looks like, is it a new color?

It looks to me just like lightning blue, if you look at the latest spy shots on motor authority or autocar, with the door open, you’ll see it.

Let me be clear: Chili Red or no sale.

Surprised to see Thunder Grey being offered. A long as we are not respecting the limited edition colors, how about adding Connaught Green please?

Connaught Green wasn’t metallic (as I recall) so they couldn’t get their grubby hands on your $500 if they went that route. (Does anyone really doubt that’s why they’re replacing the iconic Chili Red with a metallic hue?)

Pure Silver Metallic was (is) 1000% better than White Silver Metallic. Same they changed it. No yellow I see. They should have a corvette type yellow. Thunder Gray might not be too bad, of course Mini will only offer that for the S and not for the non S (I feel Mini likes to screw over the non S buyers).

BTW, picked up my Mini from it’s 60,000 Inspection II today and saw a Paceman for the first time. Ewwwwwwwweeeee – Ugly – yuck. It’s not a Mini! It’s like a car gone bad on steroids – large – bulky and chunky. Thanks but NO thanks. To each their own I guess.

If I were a GP2 owner I would likely be unhappy to hear about this. Hard to believe CR is going away as hands down its the most popular MINI color I see on the streets often. White, Black, Blue, and Gray why is it that Mini chooses a matronly BMW color choices. The feel for Mini’s time after time are young exciting cars then they swaddle them in the boring colors that just blend in with the crowd. Have to agree with my wife’s view who has said that Mini colors should feel more like opening a box of Easter eggs.

Have to wonder about one thing I am seeing in the interior pictures. Anybody else spot the drivers side “downtube”, the driver in the picture looks to be rubbing the bottom corner. Wonder how the taller and longer legged people are going to fit around that.

I’ll take one in thunder grey with cross punch dark truffle, please.

I am a GP2 owner and I am deeply depressed to hear that the thunder grey metallic will be offered like this. :(

This is not the first time this has occurred (I do not agree with the practice) but BMW did this with the “Valencia Orange” which was “exclusive” then the following year it infiltrated other models.

It is shame they do this but I am sure the bean counters say that it costs hundreds of thousands on a color so you must spread it across models- but then again limited edition cars already are a premium so that should be built in like MINI Yours/BMW Individual Colors are extra and limited.

I don’t get it and if I owned one and the advertisement said “exclusive” I would talk to someone about compensation… just saying.

First the GP2 parts were made widely available before we got the cars. Now even the color is even an option the year after. This is truly offending. :(

I feel bad for you akng and can compleatly understand where your coming from. This has the feel of corporate bean counters, do have to wonder who at BMW/Mini is so careless to cheese off people that come forward to get somethign special from the companies and end up having part of what makes there cars special prostituted for the sake of collecting a little more money.

I am too and feel the same way. I also can’t believe Chili Red is disappearing, having a Chili Red R53 in the garage next to the GP2. It’s just such an iconic MINI color… :<

You’re killing me, MINI!

Both our MINIs have been Chili Red and I’d hoped our future ones would be, too. I’ll be mightily disappointed if it goes away. Say it ain’t so, MINI.

Where’s Baby Poop Yellow? They’ve already accidentally shown it to us…

No, that’s Volcanic Orange.

More Meconium than Volcanic…

I took an Oxford plant tour today and got to see the new f56 being built in volcanic orange and the green. The spy photo is the orange and it certainly is a yellow orange. I sort of liked it, but it isn’t the orange I was expecting.

Did you see the deep blue? Is it like lightning blue?

I didn’t see anything that looked like lightning blue. If I did see a blue, it was really close to black.

I would have thought that they would suspend the factory tours….

I’ve been on the factory tour before and you see quite a lot!
I think that the factory is being retooled around November time.

They retooled a bunch already and changed the process for the current mini to match the new one. They said they were building about 8 of the F56 a day currently for testing. They were mixed in with all the other variants. They mentioned start of production for the f56 was September. Although some decisions were still to be made, such as the center speedo…

This level of hesitation in part of MINI being this close to launch is really troubling.

I will be replacing my beloved 2006 MCS next year. I am hugely disappointed at no Biege leather interior option. Love the rare combination on my current car Dark Silver/Silver roof Black int, but was looking forward to my favorite color combination BRG, White Roof, Biege Leather. two thirds of this BRG and White roof was my original order in 2006. Guess the Biege interior take rate wasn’t high enough.

It’s very interesting that Chili Red is not available in the basic versions.
But also I think it will be in the JCW version.
I think the brand wants to give a new look to the color palette of that car , for that when they launch a new generation one expects to see something different , not everything has to be exactly like the previous model because if it were so, it would be boring .
I would be nice to see again or Purple Haze Metallic and Cool Blue Metallic.
Mini has experimented with many range of paints , which are missing in the that list.
