MINI Connected Adds Amazon Cloud Music Player
The latest music app to launch on MINI Connected offers Amazon customers a convenient way of accessing their audio files on the online store's Cloud server, using their smartphone in conjunction with the MINI hub. It can be downloaded for free from the App Store and installed in the vehicle via the customer's Apple iPhone.

I wish the older Mini’s that have Mini Connected could be updated with this new software. It looks like quite an improvement.

I think they can be. After all, isn’t most of the app software for MINI Connected actually on your iPhone?

yes, I believe that is correct. The apps are just on your phone. Of course you need to have an iPhone for full functionality. But even with just Bluetooth it’s possible to stream music from apps on your phone to the sound system. I’ve got a Nexus 4 and it works perfectly well. My old Samsung worked as well. I use TuneIn and the display screen will show whatever data is being output for station info. Or with the mp3 player on the phone the screen will show all of the mp3 tags (artist, title, album) as well as cover art if you’ve got it.

For music specifically, what is the benefit of MINI Connected for streaming music? The song and album art being displayed on the car’s display? Is that it?

As far as I can tell. You also have access to your phone for making calls and so forth by BT with things displayed on the screen. You can also control your phone via the steering wheel buttons to do things like advance tracks (but you may be able to do that with the standard BT as well, I don’t know). And the display also can show you vehicle settings and an easy way to change settings. Same for vehicle status, trip computer info, etc. Basically you get the pretty display screen. You also get voice controls that I believe only come with the Connected system.

That’s a pretty nice perk for folks who do their motoring in areas with good cell coverage!

This is cool, but where’s Spotify?

It would be Spotify’s decision (and effort) to build a Connected app. I’m sure that BMW/MINI would welcome it. If you want it, tell Spotify to do it.

However, it would have very restricted function because the Connected user interface is so awkward and limited. The Connected system is best suited for apps that use little or no interaction after launching. Streaming music radio is ideal (such as a Pandora station), music libraries less so (IMO including the Amazon Cloud player).

Will the 2014 r## cars have the new connect or is it only in the f series.

The New system will start with the F## cars.

Nice addition but still hoping Spotify integration is on the way…

Are those screenshots from the current MINI Connected App? Looks so different to me than the current design…

By the way, are there any new news regarding Siri Eyes Free and MINI integration?

I still haven’t figured out how these 3rd party music apps are added into Mini Connected. Kinda wish I could get my money back because I have no use for the few built-in connected apps.

Turn the app on. Plug your phone in. Go to connected within the infotainment screen.

I swear I tried that many times looking for Mog (and others right?) and could never see them. Alas I can’t try now as the new mini’s been in the shop for 4 weeks and counting getting a T-bone buffed out.

I downloaded the app to my iPhone 5 and tried it in my new 2014 MCS convertible with connected. It acted like it was going to start but then just said disconnected…..
How do I get this to work? Pandora works great and I was excited to try this.

I just picked up my car Friday. Maybe it needs an update installed for Mini Connected? Has anyone got this to work yet?

I update the MINI connected software to the latest download and it still does not work. It shows the Amazon Cloud player is connecting on my Iphone and then it says not connected. After a while the Not Connected message disapears and it still does not work and does not show up under connected the way Pandora does……

It is now working. The amazon Cloud player app was updated on 12/2/13. Looks and works great.
